"The record speaks for itself"— Kate Gosselin's lawyer defends her against abuse allegations from her son

Reality star Kate Gosselin's lawyer, Richard Puelo, responded to her son's abuse allegations on September 11, 2024, a day after his accusation. In an interview with Fox News, Puelo defended his client against her 20-year-old son, Collin Gosselin, who claimed that his mother kept him locked in a room when he was younger.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Collin alleged that his mother zip-tied his hands and feet before sending him to a room with cameras. He accused her of locking him inside the room with a bolt and watching him on the cameras.

However, Gosselin's attorney said that his client won't be responding to the abuse allegations. He explained that Kate knew that these things could "get taken out of context," which was why she chose not to respond.

"Doesn't need to. The record speaks for itself," the lawyer said.

Puelo added that the facts belie the truth and that Kate Gosselin has no comment about whatever took place because it's not going to change the past. He also said that he doesn't believe that she intentionally harmed any of her children.

Jon & Kate Plus 8's Kate Gosselin's son, Collin, accused her of abusing him when he was younger. Collin said that his mother kept him in the basement of their house, which was also known as the "containment" room.

"When my mother would put me in that room multiple times, she had zip-tied my hands and feet together and bolt-locked the door, turned the lights off, and had cameras there just watching me," Collin alleged.

During the interview, Collin also told The Sun that the room was built in the unfinished section of the house. Adding that there was a "tiny window in the corner" of the room, which was "bolt-locked from the outside.

He claimed in the interview that he never played with his siblings and alleged that his mom had been physically and verbally abusive towards him "many, many times."

He alleged that his relationship with Kate Gosselin was "very emotionally abusive."

Collin's father and Kate Gosselin's former husband, Jon, reportedly supported his son's claims. Jon explained that he didn't find out about the abuse until much later, but he supported his son and claimed to know that the "containment" room still existed.

It is worth noting that Collin's claims aren't the first ones to come out from the Gosselin. In 2023, Madlyn, one of the couple's eight children, accused Collin of threatening to hurt her and her family. Her comments came after Collin and their other sister, Hannah, spoke about their mom driving a barrier between him and his other siblings in the Vice TV documentary Dark Side of the 2000s.
