Survivor premiered season 47 on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. The survivalist competition series gathered 18 individuals from different walks of life, allowing them a chance to compete for $1 million and the title of the champion. They were divided into three groups of six members each, Gata, Tuku, and Lavo.

To survive the challenges and the potential threats in the game, each tribe needed to function as a cohesive unit. However, some people believed otherwise. Andy Rueda, a Gata tribemate, was one such cast member who quickly formed his private alliances inside the tribe, hoping to improve his chances of staying in the competition.

However, his explosive behavior made others wonder if he would become a liability as the game progressed. Meanwhile, Andy concluded he was the most unpopular person in his tribe and that his teammates disliked him.

He drew the assumption because the Gata members allegedly did not cheer for him when he opened coconuts. His confession before everyone that he would betray his ally, Jon, to stay in the game, added to Gata's worries.

Survivor season 47 fans took to X to comment on his meltdown. While many reacted to the hilarity of his observation, others criticized him for making illogical demands from his tribe. At the same time, he was slammed for being disloyal to Jon.

"The fact Andy needed ppl to cheer him on to open a coconut makes him too high maintenance in this game," a fan wrote.
"Hey, Twitter, did YOU pay attention to Andy and his coconut today?" another fan commented.
"“I cracked open a coconut and no one cheered for me” This might be the hardest I’ve ever laughed while watching #Survivor Andy going down as the WOAT," a netizen tweeted.

Despite allying with Jon, Andy betrayed him during the tribal council by voting against him. Survivor fans were upset to see Jon leave, while Andy stayed in the show even after his unfaithfulness.

"girl i went to go do some laundry … HOW TF DID ANDY NOT GET VOTED OUT???" a user reacted.
"I love #Survivor but what happened tonight is utter BS. Andy is the obvious vote out tonight and they send f**king John home? What did John do?!?!" one person commented.

Netizens continued to criticize the Survivor cast member's expectations of his tribe. They were unimpressed by his gameplay, trying to steer everyone's attention toward him.

"Andy, this is too much word vomit. PLEASE STOP. It’s pathetic enough that you said out loud “nobody cheered for me when I opened a coconut”," a fan wrote.
"As if andy couldn’t play more of a victim, here comes medical," another user commented.
"Andy having a temper tantrum ummm......... This is so embarrassing.....," one netizen tweeted.
"Andy seems to have an inability to read the room. He’s been playing too hard too fast, and it’s putting people off. Instead of understanding that means he needs to chill and be himself, he thinks it means the tribe hates him and he’s going nuts," another person reacted.

What happened with Andy in Survivor season 47 episode 1?

After winning the reward challenge, the Gata tribe arrived at their camp, where Andy admitted he wanted to play the "numbers game" by connecting with only two people. He first allied with Jon, and later approached Rachel to inform her that they were "in alignment." However, Rachel felt Andy was "too eager" and "super suspicious" for wanting to form secret alliances.

Later that night, when Andy demanded a private chat with Rachel despite her resistance, the latter realized he would be a "bad alliance member." Their awkward conversation irked Andy's insecurities, leading him to believe he was the "least popular" member of his tribe. Seeing the Survivor cast member's mindset, Jon felt apprehensive about teaming up with Andy.

Owing to the lack of proper communication, the Gata tribe lost the immunity challenge. While the challenge unfolded, Andy felt overheated and sought a medical examination. He confessed that despite his efforts, he knew he would be voted out.

Later, the Survivor cast member admitted that he saw himself at the bottom of everyone's lists because they cheered for others who opened coconuts, but not for him. He added that he was plotting to backstab Jon to elongate his stay in the competition.

Looking at the surprise on everyone's faces, he explained he fell to paranoia. He apologized for his words, confessing he was too insecure. The Gata tribemates were concerned his "huge outbursts" could sabotage their gameplay in the future. However, they ultimately decided to keep him for his strength.

In a major turn of events, five out of six Gata castaways, including Andy, voted against Jon, ending his journey on the show.
