In The Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 episode 11, titled, Singled Out, Jennifer wanted to talk to Dawson about several things. She told him that when she was in Sonoma, he had come home past curfew and woke everybody up.
She told him she wanted him to be honest with her. She gave him an example and said that she once asked him to come home for dinner he showed up hours later. Jenn said she didn't understand what his thought process was.
He revealed that sometimes he would just sit in his car because he didn't want to be there. The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member, Jenn, wondered if it was because he didn't like her boyfriend, Ryan, but Dawson said he felt she was "always" in his ears and felt they only spoke about what was wrong with Dawson.
"You think as your mom, I'm going to let you not get up for school on time? You think I'm going to let you flunk school? Is that why you don't want to be here?" Jenn asked.
Dawson told her that he didn't have much personal space and that he would rather live with his father. The reality star was upset with Dawson's decision to stay with his father, but she didn't stop him from doing so. She told him she would be better at giving him space. In a confessional, she added that she hoped he would come back to her eventually.
