Love After Lockup season 5 released its latest episode on Friday, September 20, 2024. It presented new developments in the lives of couples separated due to imprisonment. One such couple was True and Shonta, who attempted to embark on a new journey, hoping to restart life with a new perspective.
In the latest episode, True, imprisoned for 13 years under robbery charges, was paroled. He was ecstatic about the outcome and looked forward to life outside bars. However, he had to be on house arrest and always wear an ankle monitor.
Shonta was surprised when True announced he would spend his time on house arrest at his female friend, Peppa's house. She mentioned that they would be five hours away from each other, which was equivalent to him being in jail. Despite that, she pursued their relationship, hoping they could work through it.
Love After Lockup fans took to X to criticize Shonta for not leaving True despite knowing of his promiscuous tendencies. They thought it was time for her to see through him and his inconsistent behavior.
"Shonta use your brain. He’s going to do House arrest at another woman’s house," a fan wrote.
"Shonta continues to show us how stupid she is. God keeps showing her True shouldn't be in her life. Yet, she keeps leaving the door open....FOR WHAT????" another fan commented.
"How slow is Shonta? I mean for real for real. Like she needs help," a netizen tweeted.
Some Love After Lockup fans blamed Shonta for enabling True's lifestyle by not confronting him about his suspicious activities.
"Shonta complains about True living his True life and so should everylone else. Yet she gave up work and childcare to drive 5 hours for True. She fuels the True way lifestyle LOL," a user reacted.
"Shonta, girl if True told you to jump you’re to ask where and how high, girl stop playing with us," one person commented.
"True makes decisions like a child and Shonta is right along for the ride," another fan wrote.
"True only keeps playing in Shonta’s face because she allows it..self esteem must be hella low," a user tweeted.
Meanwhile, some Love After Lockup fans criticized True for wanting to stay at a friend's house, not with Shonta who was pregnant with his child.
"True if you wanted to really be there for Shonta and your unborn then why wouldn’t you do house arrest at her house????" one person reacted.
"How can True expect Shonta to drive all that distance while he's on house arrest and she's pregnant to do her appointments to accommodate him?" another netizen wrote.
What happened between True and Shonta in Love After Lockup season 5 episode 39?
After True attended his P.O. meeting with Shonta, he announced, "I'm free. I ain't locked up." He was granted parole but had to be on house arrest, wearing an ankle monitor. The restrictions would only be lifted if he showed considerable improvement as a citizen. True celebrated his feat and announced:
"I'm gonna do the house arrest at a friend's house. My friend Peppa."
After hearing the news, Shonta felt disappointed because she hoped True would go on house arrest with her. However, the Love After Lockup star never considered that option. Shonta stated that if True spent two years on house arrest at someone else's house, it would be the same as going to jail.
Since they would be five hours apart, Shonta knew True would not be present in his children's lives. Having said that, she admitted she used every moment to figure out if she was making the right decision by pursuing the relationship.
Later, the Love After Lockup couple met with True's sister-in-law, Kellz, who informed Shonta that Peppa was her "homegirl" and that she introduced her to True. It worried Shonta because she knew True could not be in a relationship with just one woman.
When True revealed that he expected Shonta to drive up to him for his necessities, the latter was shocked and left the conversation. Meanwhile, Kellz's observation that True might miss his children's birth while staying on house arrest, left True confused.
Love After Lockup season 5 airs every Friday at 8 pm ET, only on We TV.
