"Very toxic": The Challenge fans criticize Laurel Stucky in light of Cara Maria's revelations about season 40 argument 

The Challenge season 40 aired epsiode 5 on September 18, 2024. The segment saw long-term rivals, Cara Maria Sobrello and Laurel Stucky get into a screaming match. While the argument started with Cara Maria criticizing the latter's behavior towards Michele, Emily, and Darrell, their previous issues came up and Laurel screamed at the cast member for saying that she never had her "back."

After the episode aired, Cara Maria discussed the feud on TikTok and said that there were statements made by Laurel that didn't make the final edit. She claimed that the latter "weaponized" her past trauma and abuse.

Fans commented on the situation online after hearing the cast member's side of the story and criticized Laurel on X. One person wrote:

The Challenge season 40 fans hoped Laurel would not return to the show:

"Really hoping that this is the last we see Laurel. Not just for Cara’s sake but for all cast members. And maybe both need to stay away from the game all together.. always Team Cara but don’t want her to be on to then induce more vindictiveness from cast/fans may feel it’s bias," a person wrote.

"They temporarily banned Ashley and didn’t show it at all. Banning Laurel is the right move. You have no idea how someone’s trigger because of trauma will act. Also, she put Cara’s trauma out for the entire house. Cara is the only person who should decide who knows anything," a fan commented.

In a TikTok video uploaded on September 19, 2024, The Challenge: Battle of the Eras star Cara Maria Sobrello opened up about her fight with Laurel Stucky. The fight was featured in episode 5 and saw the two screaming at one another before security pulling the latter away.

Cara Maria ended up in tears and while the fans believed the argument was about their rivalry in the show, the cast member cleared the air online. She stated that while she couldn't go into details about what Laurel said, due to legal reasons, The Challenge cast member weaponized her trauma while screaming at her.

She added that Laurel "mimicked" the abuse and triggered her. She revealed that after the fight, she had to ask to see a therapist. She also stated that security followed Laurel around for days to make sure The Challenge season 40 star didn't come close to her.
