"Villains won" — Outlast fans disappointed with Drew and Drake's season 2 victory

Outlast season 2 aired its final two episodes (7 and 8) on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Two teams, Team Delta and Team Bravo, reached the last leg of the survivalist competition. Having braved most of the challenges of the Alaskan wilderness, each team wished to reach the finish line, secure victory, and walk away with $1 million.

However, the final task— an 11-kilometer trek, integrated with a set of challenges— overwhelmed Team Delta, which comprised Joseph, Joey, Brendon, Tina, and Eric. Meanwhile, Team Bravo, down to Drew and Drake after Sammy's elimination, outperformed their rivals and clinched the winner's title.

Outlast fans took to X to comment on season 2's winners. They were upset Team Delta lost the competition, despite presenting commendable teamwork. Some netizens criticized Drew and Drake's victory after they persuaded Sammy to leave due to his deteriorating health.

Fans perceived them as "villains," and were disappointed to see them walk away with the prize money.

"Villains won in #Outlast man..Team Delta yall were heroes man, epitome of class and integrity. Joseph was a true Champion with the most compassionate heart I've seen on the show," a fan wrote.

"The most slimy men ever winning this season of #Outlast, unbelievable," another fan commented.

"It was so rigged. Their route was 10x easier. And wtf does a foot race have to do with “outlasting?” Team Delta was all set to OUTLAST team Bravo who realistically had no more than a few days left in them. Total bullsh*t," one netizen tweeted.

Fans were displeased with the final outcome. They felt Team Delta was more deserving of the victory.

"I was so mad when they won, the other team (aside from Joey) deserved it so much more," one user reacted.

"Team Delta. I can’t believe the villains won this season. I’m genuinely gutted. They should’ve at least had survival skill challenges throughout the trek to make it an even playing field. F**king frat bros winning over the most wholesome group is criminal," a person commented.

"There I was getting excited that Bravo were gonna get lost in the woods forever... The best team did not win," another fan tweeted.

"what a boring winner. it would be much better if team delta had won this season, with that amazing build up story," one netizen wrote.

Many praised Team Delta's teamwork, while criticizing Drew and Drake's performance on the trek.

"Team Delta didn’t win 1st place in the race, but they won 1st place in my heart their teamwork, spirit, and wisdom was incredibly inspiring," one person reacted.

"I can't believe the two dude bros that sold out their only other teammate from the beginning and didn't know how to read a compass won. Tina should have flared out the day before if she was that exhausted," another user commented.

What happened to Team Bravo in Outlast season 2 finale?

Both teams had to trek through 11 kilometers of the Alaskan wilderness for their final challenge. Each team was given a separate route, crafted to test their endurance and navigational abilities. While Team Delta seemed confident in their navigational skills, they were concerned about covering the grueling journey on foot.

On the contrary, Team Bravo members, Drew and Drake, were worried about being unable to use the compass or read the map for directions.

"I am pretty nervous. We're not super comfortable using a compass," Drake said.

Nonetheless, the "Texas boys" were excited to win the race and walk away with $500,000 each. Before the task commenced, Drew announced he would "do the navigating," despite not having enough knowledge to use a compass or read a map.

After they rowed to their starting point, Drew and Drake realized they had a complicated route to cover. The Outlast cast members were given a path with "densely wooded forests, wetlands, and waterways."

Due to their inability to read the map, Drew and Drake struggled through the densely packed forest. They ended up returning to the same place over and over again. Their plan to follow the river brought them to the beaver dam, adding to their confusion.

However, despite being lost, Camp Bravo reached the final destination before its competitors and lit the signal flare, winning Outlast season 2.
