How many contestants were eliminated in Beast Games episode 1?
Mr. Beast's reality competition, Beast Games premiered on Prime Video this week on December 19, 2024. The first episode saw 1000 contestants participate in the race to win $5 million, however, some bowed out after the host presented them with the first bribe of the season.
"Those of you that eliminate yourselves will evenly split this $1,00,000 I'm standing behind. So if only one of you eliminates yourself, you'll become a millionaire," he explained.
52 contestants took the bribe and won $19,230. The end of the bribe marked the beginning of the competition. For the first game, the remaining contestants competed in teams. Every row of 80 players was a team and for the team to move forward in the show, someone had to "sacrifice themselves."
The host revealed that only 9 of the 12 rows would move on and if none of the contestants from a row sacrificed themselves, the entire team would be eliminated. By the end of the game, only 705 players remained.
For the next challenge, the contestants had to build a tower using the colored blocks provided for them. However, if they were unable to complete their tower in the given time, or if their tower fell, they would be eliminated. 100 players were eliminated from Beast Games by the end of the game.
The remaining 605 players had one last hurdle to cross to make it to Beast City. The host explained that the city only had 500 beds and over 600 contestants were remaining. The next game was played in a team, but in rows instead of columns.
"It's the row to your left and right, which means they will vary in number," Mr. Beast explained.
The Beast Games host stated that he would offer bribes and whoever accepted it would eliminate themselves and their rows. The bribes started with $10,000 and went up to $100,000. By the end of the game, 493 players remained.
A total of 507 players were eliminated in episode 1, and the remaining contestants made it to the City.
Fans reacted to the premiere episode online and compared it to Netflix's Squid Game.
Episodes 1 and 2 of Beast Games are available to stream on Prime Video.
