Lo Bosworth, the actress popularly known for her role in The Hills, appeared on the podcast Just B With Bethenny Frankel on April 19 and shed light on the relationships between the cast members on the sets of the 2006 show. She stated that female actors on The Hills were put in "compromised situations" while filming and discussed how the cast had a tough time forming friendships off-camera.
"Not by our own fault. We were very young women constantly put into compromised situations where we had to blood sport it out against each other to get through a day of production," she said, as per US Weekly.
The Hills is a spinoff of Laguna Beach and it aired from 2006 to 2010. Bosworth also appeared in the first two seasons of Laguna Beach alongside her friend Lauren Conrad and their classmates Kristin Cavallari, Christina Sinclair, Stephen Colletti, Dieter Schmitz, and others.
Lo Bosworth on her experience of filming The Hills
The actress spoke about her time as a reality TV star and mentioned that she was not as good as her co-stars as she wasn't inclined to get into drama with them.
"I served a very specific role, which I'm actually grateful for in hindsight. I didn't have to get into it too much. But in the areas where I did, it still kind of haunts me to this day, because there's so many stories behind this story everybody saw on television that run very counter to what the public thinks of you," she said.
While on Just B With Bethenny Frankel, Lo Bosworth also spoke about the fame that came with being part of the industry. Talking about her co-star and friend Lauren Conrad, Lo explained why her pal left the show in 2009 and said:
"I think that they were famous to a degree that whenever anything happened that was negative, the blowback felt so significant and so-life changing that you really live with that trauma and it affects you on a go-forward basis in terms of how much you're inclined to share with people."
While comparing Laguna Beach and The Hills, Lo said, Laguna Beach is a "kind, nice version of reality TV" while the latter has a much "bigger impact from a drama and trauma perspective." This was not the first time Lo Bosworth opened up about her experience of being part of The Hills.
After quitting the show, Bosworth appeared on the Unzipped podcast and disclosed that the show was "a little uncomfortable" for her. She revealed that the lasting impact of that initial trauma she experienced never truly left and stated that she preferred being an "anonymous person."
Lo Bosworth seemingly hints at Laguna Beach reunion
Lo Bosworth also hinted at a possible Laguna Beach reunion in honor of its upcoming 20th anniversary while on Just B With Bethenny Frankel. She mentioned she and Lauren were friends, and that "there are rumblings" that there may be a 20th-anniversary special in the works.
If the reunion takes place, it will also mark Lo's 20-year high school reunion as it would witness her reunite with her former co-stars. She mentioned that this year would mark their "true 20-year high school reunion" and she believed it would be "great to get back together with the old gang."
While speaking about her co-stars Lo Bosworth mentioned she thinks everybody's doing well and mentioned that they are "friendly."
The cast of Laguna Beach had a virtual reunion in 2020 as part of a partnership for #GoodToVote and HeadCount on E!
