Dancing With the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev was arrested on Thursday, August 29, on suspicion of domestic battery.
Variety reported that the Napa County Sheriff's Office took the professional dancer into custody on Thursday morning, around 10:00 am PST in Yountville. He was booked on a felony domestic charge at the Napa County Jail.
Per police records, Chigvintseve was arrested under penal code 273.5 (a), which states that someone is "guilty of a felony" if he/she willfully inflicts a "spouse, cohabitant, or fellow parent" violence causing injury.
Details about Artem Chigvintsev's charge remained unclear at the time of publishing this article. Page Six reported that he posted a $25,000 bond shortly after his arrest. As Napa officials gather more information about the incident, Napa County Sheriff's Office public information officer Henry Wofford shared a little insight into the reality TV star's arrest: He said:
"We will always protect our victims. We understand why people want to know the name. But we're treating it just like every other domestic violence case."
As of writing this article, it was unknown if the DWTS pro's wife, Nikki Garcia, was somehow involved in the domestic violence incident.
Artem Chigvintsev's arrest revealed paramedics were dispatched
Shortly before Artem Chigvintsev's alleged domestic violence arrest, inside sources told TMZ that emergency first responders were called to his and Nikki Garcia's home. An unidentified individual reportedly called 911 at around 8:30 in the morning for a supposed "medical emergency." However, the request for emergency response was later canceled, but the paramedics and the fire department were already on their way.
While the name of the 911 caller and the victim of Chigvintsev's domestic battery was unknown, Garcia revealed that she was in Napa on Wednesday, a day before the Dancing With the Stars pro was arrested. She posted on her Instagram Story about a facial in the Downtown Napa area on Wednesday morning, although her whereabouts during her husband's arrest remain unknown.

Moreover, two days before his arrest, on August 27, Chigvintsev and Garcia celebrated their second wedding anniversary. The former WWE star shared a video montage of moments from their relationship. In the caption, she wrote lyrics to Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love.
With his recent legal woes, an old case about Chigvintsev's penchant for "being rough" resurfaced. In 2015, Fern Britton, his former dance partner on UK's Strictly Come Dancing, accused him of kicking and shoving her during their time as partners. She also alleged that he would tell her violent things like that he would "blow off like an atomic b*mb" and also threatened to end her life.
As for Artem Chigvintsev, he told the Daily Express in 2015 that Britton's accusations were not true. He said that he treated her with "respect and genuine care," and what she was telling the media was "the opposite of everything [he] believed in."
