The Voice season 25 aired a brand new episode on Monday, May 20, 2024. The latest segment was part 1 of the season finale and saw two performances each by the top five contestants.

Still in the running to win the NBC singing competition are Bryan Olesen, Asher HaVon, Nathan Chester, Josh Sanders, and Karen Waldrup. During the first round of performances, Team Legend's Bryan Olesen sang Beautiful Things by Benson Boone and his second performance of the night was to Freedom! 90 by George Michael.

While several fans took to X to praise the contestant's overall performance, some were divided by his Beautiful Things rendition and also believed his song choices weren't the best.

"What has happened? Bryan you were picking great songs? I voted for you. I still think you're awesome just wish you would have picked a legendary song," one person wrote.
"There are certain songs/artists people shouldn't ever try to cover...Bryan just proved why GM shouldn't ever be covered...did not do any justice to that song," another person wrote.
"This is going to be bad. George Michael is one of the greatest pop vocalists of all time. There's subtleties in his voice and performances few can match. Bryan Olesen is definitely not one of those few #TheVoice," a tweet read.

Some of The Voice season 25 fans praised his rendition of Beautiful Things:

"@BryanOlesen Like John, I felt that. Something so very beautiful came from that pain. You've had my vote all season. Good luck!" one person wrote.
"Excellent breathing. Such a natural clear tone. I was worried he was gonna get too tight at the top but he maintained his signal all the way to the falsetto break. The arrangement did a great job playing with the registrar break up there. I agree that his voice was super expressive, he was full of air and using full addiction on the cords, excellently shaped vowels, gorgeous. I would have enjoyed a falsetto ending but that’s the arrangement…," another person wrote.
"So you have to let us know when your album drops and you have to let us know your concert dates and because whatever happens tonight, I know I’m going and I know I’m purchasing. Don’t just walk off that stage and leave us alone. We love you too much," a fan wrote.

The Voice season 25 fans also said:

"Bryan Oleson making a connection thru these lyrics, sounding so clear& present. Smart to do such a current song. OF course, I'm waiting for the Big Big notes, edge-of-your-seat performance. He delivered. Such great control up top. Nicely emotional ending. #TheVoice #VoiceFinale," a fan wrote.
"Sorry Bryan but that's a bad song choice! Way too big for your vocals! You're butchering a classic song! #TheVoice #VoiceFinale," another fan wrote.

Bryan Olesen's Beautiful Things rendition earns him a standing ovation in The Voice season 25 finale part 1

In part one of the finale for The Voice's latest season, Bryan's first song of the night was Beautiful Things by Bensen Boone. Ahead of his performance, the contestant opened up about his mother's passing in a video. As the performance ended, The Voice season 25 coaches gave the singer a standing ovation as the audience cheered.

When host Carson Daly asked Bryan's coach, John Legend, what he thought of the rendition, the All of Me singer's voice broke. He said:

"I was so moved by it because it feels like when you're singing it that you know what it means to lose something, I really felt it."

The winner of The Voice season 25 will be announced in Tuesday's episode of the NBC show.
