Looking back at Lizzy Musi's drag racing career and accomplishments

Lizzy Musi, the daughter of an eight-time Pro Street World champion, has been fascinated with the motor world since childhood. The New Jersey-born drag racer was a frontrunner at the 2013 Top Sportsman competition.

In 2014, Lizzy made her debut on Pro Nitrus on the “King Kong 5” which her father formerly campaigned in 2009. The car was modified using the latest technology and equipment, including a 903 EFI powerplant manufactured by Pat Musi Racing Engines. Lizzy obtained the second qualifying position in the contest.

Lizzy Musi was the first woman to run at 200.02 MPH, breaking the 200 MPH barrier in an 8-mile drag car race. She was also the first woman to score the winning place at the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) US Drags’ Pro Nitrus national event in July 2014 at Virginia Motorsports.

In 2019, she was a contestant on Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings, achieving three consecutive wins on her “Aftershock” Camaro. She was the first female doorslammer racer to secure three consecutive wins.

However, amid her flourishing drag racing career, Lizzy shared the news of her stage four triple negative breast cancer diagnosis in April 2023.

The following month, Lizzy’s father Pat shared a health update on his daughter on an episode on The Wes Buck Show. He said:

"It’s a tough time. The diagnosis was a tough time…I’m in constant contact with Lizzy and her feelings. The doctors are telling us to stay focused and keep doing what you do. They’re encouraging her to go to Columbus, so we are going to Columbus."

Lizzy Musi documented her cancer treatment journey on her YouTube channel where she shared a clip of getting a buzz cut from her fiancé in early June. She posted a selfie on Instagram along with a heartbreaking caption:

"I want to share every raw moment with you guys through my journey. 2 nights ago I had to shave my head due to extreme hair loss. Kye shaved it for me and it was at the race track. I don’t think I would have had it any other way. Every time I brushed my hair it would just fall out in clumps. I had bald spots and excessive shedding it was just getting to the point where I was ready to take that step."

Lizzy’s father Pat Musi previously captured moments from their family extending their support for her during the tumultuous phase. Despite her challenging health condition, Lizzy Musi held up her high spirits.
