Season 6 of Love Island Australia aired episode 27 on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. The couples found themselves in a precarious position when faced with host Sophie Monk's challenging questions. When the cast was asked to nominate the couple who were on the show for "clout," a majority voted for Mimi and Steph, ending their journey inside the villa.
Due to their performance on the show, the islanders deemed Steph and Mimi the couple with the most insincere connection. Since Steph had previously appeared on other versions of Love Island, the cast believed his participation in season 6 of Love Island Australia was merely for exposure.
At the same time, many found Mimi's behavior odd. Judging from how quickly she forgave Steph's infidelity, the islanders believed her connection with him was not genuine. After much deliberation, Steph and Mimi were evicted from the villa.
Love Island Australia fans were mostly displeased by Mimi's elimination. They were unhappy to see her leave and took to X to criticize the islanders' judgment.
"How they voted out Mimi is wild! She’s the realest girl + Em!!!" a fan wrote.
"Like this show has been annoying for weeks now and then they decide to dump Mimi, talk about sabotage," another fan commented.
"I’m actually so pissed off todays ep Mimi and Steph did not deserve to go home they were my number 1 couple," a netizen tweeted.
Many Love Island Australia fans criticized the cast members for branding Mimi as insincere.
"How the f**k did Mimi get dumped for not being genuine when she literally seems like the most real in there. & how the f**k are Hannah & Taylor still there. Hands down, this is the worst season of this show ever," a user reacted.
"Mimi has been the most real person in this villa and the fact Kaylah and Hannah got to vote her out is GROSS they are such mean girls and you cannot convince me otherwise," a person commented.
"The gang up on Mimi was crazy. They hate her guts for being so real and calling out their bs. Mimi, you are loved," another fan wrote.
"This is heartbreaking. Mimi is The most authentic Islander funny how the clout chaser ones dumped her for something they know they are the ones. Mimi don't cry. We know the ones that are in there for clout. Wishing you and Steph a happy life," one user posted.
Other Love Island Australia fans were upset to see Mimi get dumped from the villa.
"The fact that Mimi is off the show is 100% the reason why i will not be tuning in anymore," a person reacted.
"MIMI GOT DUMPED FROM THE ISLAND??? Ooooohhhh yall are just a SLIMY NASTY piece of work!" another netizen commented.
"I'm shocked" — Love Island Australia star Mimi comments on her elimination
Although Taylor and Hannah, and Kaylah and Eric were also nominated, a majority decided to send Steph and Mimi packing. The Love Island Australia evictees were stunned by the results.
Steph criticized the islanders' judgment, calling it a "f**king sh*t decision." He fumed angrily, claiming they did not deserve to be eliminated from the show. Meanwhile, Mimi broke down, upset by the outcome.
"I'm shocked. I just, yeah, clout was the last thing ever on my mind when I came into the show. Yeah, I think it's really unfortunate because I've never had the privilege of falling in love and that's why I came here," Mimi said.
Steph confessed that he planned to return to Australia with Mimi and continue their relationship, stressing the sincerity of his feelings for her. The Love Island Australia star added that he came on the show to find a genuine connection and was pleased he was leaving with one.
While speaking to the cameras, Mimi confessed that the reason for her elimination hurt her more than the elimination itself. Em and Sophie bid an emotional farewell to her and hoped to see her soon outside the show.
