The Challenge season 40 aired a brand new episode this week on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. The segment saw Laurel Stucky and Cara Maria Sorbello get into a screaming match, leaving the latter in tears.
Cara Maria and Michele Fitzgerald approached Laurel to discuss her dynamics with some of the other cast members. Cara criticized Laurel for arguing with Darrell and Emily and told her she might be the problem. The argument escalated and security had to intervene to separate the two.

Laurel and Cara Maria get into a screaming match in The Challenge season 40 episode 5
In The Challenge season 40 episode 5, Cara Maria and Michele Fitzgerald approached Laurel to talk about her constant arguments with some of the other cast members. Cara Maria told her that she might be the problem.
Laurel told the season 40 star that she was the problem. Cara Maria yelled at her and said she wouldn't "back down" to her anymore and Laurel said that all The Challenge star did was "scream."
"I personally think Cara is just childish and in a state of an adolescent mind and I'm doing everything that I can to avoid the situation that is basically about to explode," Laurel said in a confessional.
Laurel told Cara Maria that she was "unaware" while the latter pointed out they were the only ones who didn't "f*ck with each other" in season 40. She added that Laurel was being an "a**hole" to everyone in the house. Laurel responded by calling The Challenge Battle of the Eras star "manipulative." Cara said she "started it" and Laurel called her a "13-year-old."
Laurel said Cara Maria would push her to her "breaking point" and made a comment about Cara's boyfriend, Paulie. The latter said that her boyfriend "actually had her back," and Laurel said she also had her back. Cara yelled that she also had Laurel's "back" in The Challenge: All Stars 4.
"This is about a game? This is about All Stars 4 because I beat you? Because I beat you in All Stars 4? Don't you f***ing say that about me because when it comes down to it, I am with you," Laurel yelled.
Security personnel intervened and separated the two. Laurel walked away while several cast members consoled Cara Maria.
