“Worms for brains”- Love is Blind Habibi fans criticize Nour’s take on feminism

After Love is Blind season 7 of the original US version enthralled fans with its premiere earlier this month, Love is Blind Habibi came along to engage them even further. This Middle Eastern version of the popular dating show was released on Netflix on October 10.

Nour and Mido were among the couples who got engaged in the pods and moved on to their vacation phase at a Dubai resort. The duo didn't work out because of their clashing personalities, but Nour's take on feminism has been making waves on the internet.

In a confessional on episode 1, Nour said that the feminists ruined it for her because according to them a woman should be working and providing for herself, and said that she didn't believe in that and that she wanted her man to provide for her.

Fans of Love is Blind Habibi took to X to criticise Nour for her beliefs.

"Nour said the feminists ruined it for her?? The same feminism that affords her that modelling career?? Worms for brains," said one fan.

"Nour saying she hates feminism…how slow can one be," said another fan.

"Watching Love is Blind, Habibi and The model is talking about how much she hates feminism now women have to be Independent, work. Mind you, she wouldn't be a model, she wouldn't wear the clothes she does, being on this show to start with, as bo Habibi,o bua kang?" a third one added.

"Nour said feminists ruined us (women) because we now have independence to work? And make our own money? That’s crazy, rich babe with zero sense," another fan wrote.

Fans of Love is Blind Habibi called her out on her statement and said that she wouldn't have been able to live the lifestyle she was living if it weren't for feminism.

"Most/All of the men on #LoveIsBlindHabibi made a pact to not be 100% financially supportive of their prospective wife. This is why feminism is good. Imagine being financially abused, etc. Nour is a prime example of stupidity for criticizing feminism," an X user wrote.

"This babe from Love is Blind Habibi said feminists ruined us. Aunty hello ?!!!" another X user wrote.

"I remember being in these hypergamy spaces and engaging in the type of anti-feminism that Nour is doing. Thankfully I was 19 back then and didn’t know better but girl you’re pushing 30 cmon now," another commentator wrote.

"Women bashing on feminism like it isn't benefitting them the most is crazy but let me be quiet," read another comment.

Why did Nour say what she said in episode 1 of Love is Blind Habibi

Nour went into the pods with Mido, the man she later ended up getting engaged to on Love is Blind Habibi. He complimented her voice and then asked her what she thought of her career.

Nour quipped and asked him if it was a job interview, which made him laugh.

She then jokingly said she could send him her CV. Mido said he was being serious and said that some people who work as models might not have a lot of time for marriage. He also added that a lot of them could be arrogant because they knew they were beautiful and desired.

He then again demanded to know more about her work and asked if she had photo sessions every day. She said no, and explained that she had standards when it came to choosing who she worked for.

In a confessional after their date, Nour said she was a model so she didn't have a lot of time to go on a date. She added that she was raised with the values that the man should be the provider.

Adding to it, Nour said the feminists ruined it for her because they promoted independence for women, which she didn't believe in.

She told some girls in the common area that she didn't do walk-in dates, coffee dates or last-minute dates because she expected her partner to book a table for her at a fine dining experience and fill it with dishes too.

Later, in episode 5 of the show, Mido left Nour for not giving him enough attention and spending all day in her room doing her hair and makeup.
