Following the recent premiere of Southern Charm, Southern Hospitality season 3 debuted on January 2 with the episode Bottles, Balloons, and Betrayal. Set in Charleston, South Carolina, the shows share a universe, with Southern Charm's affluent cast often visiting Leva Bonaparte's Republic Lounge.
The episode updated viewers on the staff's lives, revealing that DJ and VIP server Maddie Reese is dating VIP host Joe Bradley.
Sharing her relationship status in a confessional, Maddie said that she got rid of her former boyfriend, Trevor, and was with Joe now. She said that she and Joe had been friends for a long time and that she felt like she always loved him.

Maddie opens to up to Grace about her new relationship on Southern Hospitality season 3 episode 1
In Southern Hospitality premiere episode, Maddie gave details on her breakup with Trevor. When Grace told her relationship with Joe was "cute" because they didn't want to be in a relationship with someone she didn't love "madly", Maddie recalled how it went of her the last time.
She said in a confessional:
"I finally was like I'm getting out and that light bulb clicked and I got the f*ck out. And I closed the door and I never went back."
Maddie confided in Grace about her past relationship, saying she constantly worried about her ex cheating and felt more invested in him than he was in her. In contrast, she described feeling "safe" and "secure" with Joe. However, she admitted to holding back in her relationship with Joe due to lingering trauma from her past.
