Love Island USA season 6 aired a brand new episode this week on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. During the segment, fans saw Movie Night commence as the cast sat down to take a trip down memory lane as memorable moments of the season were played out in front of them.
One of the clips played during the segment featured Leah talking negatively about Rob and cussing him out. This led to Aaron defending the latter, and although Leah and Rob resolved their issues, the latter opened up about feeling alone in a house with "12 people" in it.
The clip made fans believe that production was intentionally giving Rob a "sympathy edit," and they took to social media to criticize them. One person wrote on X:
"Why is Rob always getting the sympathy edit. I DONT CARE ABOUT THIS MANS FEELINGS. WRAP IT UP! #LoveislandUSA."
"The Rob favoritism from the producers sickens me. Leah apologizing for laughing at rob’s fake tears is insane, that did not warrant an apology. That man is a narcissist and a gaslighter, and the sympathy edit is pissing me off. #loveislandusa," a fan wrote.
"this rob sympathy edit is literally going to make me go ballistic because no way they just edited what leah said over sad music and allow him to play victim AGAIN #loveislandusa," a viewer commented.
Love Island USA season 6 fans noted they wanted Rob to be eliminated:
"They got Rob a sympathy edit and some sympathy overalls…I need him out that villa NOW #loveislandusa," a fan commented.
"The way Rob is literally giving J*hnny D*pp and they tried to give him the sympathy edit (it backfired). Reacting to gaslighting is not the same as gaslighting. Bye. #loveislandusa," a viewer mentioned.
"Why are they tryna give Rob this sympathy edit … like I still want him out my villa #loveislandusa," a person wrote.
Love Island USA season 6 fans further accused Peacock of playing favorites:
"So word on the street is Rob’s brother works for Peacock, and that producers are intentionally gonna give Rob a sympathy/good edit because he’s a producer plant/favorite. They’re wanting to get rid of Leah - which makes sense for this villain edit she keeps getting #loveislandusa," a fan commented.
"Rob’s BROTHER works at PEACOCK?! That’s crazy! but literally I believe it because literally he made no noise during casa last season. No one asked for him to come back #loveislandusa," a viewer mentioned.
Leah apologizes to Rob in Love Island USA season 6 Movie Night
In Love Island USA season 6, the cast gathered for Movie Night, during which they watched back clips of their time on the Peacock show.
In one of the clips, Leah was heard speaking negatively about Rob and said:
"I'm literally just having such a hard time, like thank God, like, you can cradle him while he cries in the corner. It's not no game anymore."
She added:
"It's so theatrical, Oh, my God! The drama! I feel like I have a weight lifted off my shoulders. And then she makes him like, they're in high school, and they're like f*cking 30 years old."
Watching the clip back, Love Island USA season 6 star Aaron rushed to defend his friend, Rob. After that, Leah apologized to the cast member. The female cast member explained that the clip was from when Rob chose Andrea over her. She added that it caught her off guard, and her remarks were made in the "heat of the moment."
Rob understood Leah's point of view and noted that he didn't hold it against her. He added that although he still thought she was a "great person," he just didn't trust her anymore.
"The biggest thing now, like people keep asking me, like, "Would you ever get back with Leah?" And I'm like, I really like Leah. I laugh with Leah and I love being around her, but I don't trust you anymore," Rob said.
The Love Island USA season 6 islander added that he was embarrassed for crying over two women he had just met. He added that despite that, he was still hurt at the time because he knew he had to hurt someone or the other.
"You weren't like, "Are you okay? What are you thinking? How are you feeling? You're crying. Are you alright?" Like that never came out of your mouth. And I just felt so f—king alone. I was like, "How am I in this place with 12 people and I feel alone more than I have in years?" Rob said.
After the episode aired, Love Island USA season 6 fans wondered why Rob was getting the "sympathy edit" and why the producers were trying to make Leah seem like the bad guy.
Episodes of Love Island USA season 6 are available to stream on Peacock.
