Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 released a new episode on Monday, September 2, 2024. Titled New Kid On The Dock, it welcomed Carrie O'Neill onboard as one of the stew. Carrie had prior experience as a chief stew but was ready to take on any role assigned to her.
Chief Stew Aesha was beyond pleased to have a helping hand. However, Ellie was not too impressed by the new addition. She felt threatened by Carrie's closeness with Aesha and wondered if it would result in her demotion. Although Aesha mentioned she wanted to keep Carrie around her to see how she tackled responsibilities, it made Ellie vulnerable.
As the second stew, Ellie felt she outranked Carrie. However, she became nervous when she discovered Carrie would continue being a part of the crew. She indirectly tried to convince Aesha otherwise, but the latter refused to budge.
Instead, she stood up to Ellie and explained she could do whatever she wanted with Carrie since it was her call. She was not responsible for managing her "second stew's insecurity." Below Deck Mediterranean fans took to X to praise Aesha for confronting Ellie and denying her demands.
"Aesha you go girl you do not take any mouthing off you didn't miss a beat with your response good job," a fan wrote.
"preach Aesha, put Ellie in her place," another fan commented.
Below Deck Mediterranean fans commended Aesha for standing her ground and not getting swayed by Ellie's remarks.
"Aesha doesn't put up with Ellie's nonsense!" a user reacted.
"At the end of the day, it’s also my call. I’m putting her where I see fit. Oop. You better let her know, Aesha," one person tweeted.
"I’m glad Aesha stood up to her and didn’t give in!" a fan commented.
Some Below Deck Mediterranean fans commented on Aesha's response to Ellie. They also reacted to how Ellie took advantage of Aesha's kindness to get her way.
"my jaw was on the floor watching this scene I cannot believe Elle was questioning Aesha like that and HELL YA Aesha!" a netizen wrote.
"these stews will do anything to take Aesha kindness for weakness, Ellie being the main culprit. it’s just shocking," one person reacted.
"Ellie is actually going to make me lose my mind. Aesha hasn’t done anything to her (except not fire her when she really could have), and there were always supposed to be 4 stews on this boat. She is beyond obsessed with rank at this point," a fan wrote.
What did Below Deck Mediterranean star Aesha tell Ellie in episode 14?
Carrie's addition to the crew made Ellie feel vulnerable. While Carrie was comfortable being the "third stew, fourth stew, whatever," Ellie felt uncomfortable watching her closeness with Aesha. Ellie claimed she was trying to get on the good side of the chief. Despite feeling threatened, she refused to back off.
"I've earned my position on this boat, and if my position should be threatened at all, I'm just not going to back down. That's just how I operate," she said.
Although Carrie's experience outranked Ellie and Bri, Aesha wanted to keep her as her "floater" without a rank because she did not want to upset anyone. Despite Aesha's efforts to maintain a sense of equality on board, Ellie's insecurities kept growing. The Below Deck Mediterranean cast member confessed she might start "resenting Aesha" if she ever felt like she would get demoted.
Later, while Aesha was tidying the bar, Ellie questioned her about Carrie's stay. She was taken aback when she discovered Carrie would be on service every day. She complained she felt like a "third wheel" and wondered if she was getting demoted, to which Aesha replied:
"At the end of the day, it's my call. I'll put her where I see fit. I'm not demoting you, I'm just putting her on service."
While speaking to the cameras, the Below Deck Mediterranean star confessed she understood where Ellie's worries stemmed from, however, she needed her to be more understanding of others.
"If you want to be a chief stew, you've got to understand that the most important thing is the guest experience. Not my second stew's insecurity," Aesha said.
Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays on Bravo at 9 pm ET.
