Summer House's star Jesse Solomon was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2017 and, as per the show's latest episode, awaited the results of his five-year scan. Solomon opened up about feeling nervous while talking to West Wilson. He told Wilson that the doctor felt something, and then he felt "something separate," and both of those things were "abnormal."
The Bravo celebrity spoke to People Magazine about his cancer journey and awaiting the results of his latest ultrasound and said that up until now, it had been "smooth sailing."
"Your chances of a recurrence go way down once you've had chemo —they say my chances went from a 13% chance of a recurrence to a 2% chance — but when it's happened to you twice, in my mind, it's 50/50. You kind of have PTSD," he added.
The Summer House cast member further said that filming the Bravo show and having fun with his friends and family was a "solid distraction" while he waited for the results.
"I had no eyebrows and no hair"— Summer House's Jesse Solomon discusses chemotherapy and more
In a recent conversation with People Magazine, Summer House season 8 cast member Jesse Solomon opened up about being diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2017 when he was 24 years old. He told the publication that he felt a "twinge of pain" and asked the doctor for an STD test. The doctor, meanwhile, suggested an ultrasound.
He added that he went to "pee in a cup" and get the ultrasound, and they called him back immediately. However, Jesse was working at the time and missed the call.
"I was like, 'Oh my God, I probably have chlamydia. My life is over, I'm going ot have to tell this that I've been seeing and this is the worst thing that's ever happened to me," he said.
Upon finding out that he had cancer, Jesse was shocked, scared, and "pretty freaked out." The Summer House season 8 cast member recalled his parents handled it well and came to New York.
The reality star had to get one of his testicles removed, and a year later, the cancer returned, due to which he had to undergo chemotherapy. The Summer House star was prescribed four rounds of the treatment but fell sick before the second round.
"The whole four rounds of chemo was supposed to be three months, it ended up taking about four. I went to the hospital so many times that before they gave me the all-clear. By the end, I had no eyebrows and no hair, and I just was skinny fat and lost my muscle and lost my veins, but that stuff all comes back," Jesse said.
Since then, the Summer House star has received clear scans. In the latest episode of the Bravo show, he waited for the results of his scan. Towards the end of the episode, he said that he was "healthy," "happy," and "just trying to live in the present."
He mentioned that if he knew he would be on Summer House and "living" his "best life at 30," his journey would have been "a lot easier." He chimed in on fans' messages telling Jesse that he inspired them. He called it "super rewarding" and said that was "a big reason" why he wanted to do the Bravo show and was glad that he did.
Episodes of season 8 are available to stream on Peacock. New episodes air on Bravo every Thursday at 9 pm ET.
