Wells Adams, known for his appearances on Bachelor in Paradise, was the first contestant banished from season 3 of The Traitors US. The Peacock hit, set in a Scottish castle, saw Adams eliminated in a chaotic Round Table during episode 2, following a close 5-4-4 vote.

Reflecting on his departure, Adams pointed to a lack of cohesion among the Faithfuls after the unexpected murder of Real Housewives star Dorinda Medley, stating,

"There was no kind of united front. That’s why I got nailed. The united front really happened the night before, where everyone was like Dorinda is a Traitor. Dorinda was the first person to get off the boat."

Adams, who had high hopes for his journey on The Traitors US, explained that the Faithfuls’ disarray following Medley’s elimination left them directionless. This created an opportunity for others, including Bob the Drag Queen, to target him. The elimination came less than 48 hours after his arrival, making him the first player to exit the game.

The Traitors US star Wells Adams discusses his elimination

Adams explained that Dorinda Medley's absence significantly impacted his position in the game. He stated that the Faithfuls had formed a united front the night before, targeting Medley as a Traitor. However, after her elimination, the group lost focus, leading to uncertainty and ultimately putting his name in contention. Adams was blindsided by the accusations against him.

“Dylan told me maybe 10 minutes before the Round Table that people were saying my name. And I was like, ‘What?’” he said.

He also argued that his actions during the missions demonstrated his loyalty as a Faithful. Recalling the immunity task, he explained,

“If you’re a Traitor, you’re not going to work hard for immunity because you don’t really need it. I went all out, doing wind sprints up and down a hill for coins.”

Despite his efforts, Adams felt the Faithfuls overlooked his commitment. Instead, Bob the Drag Queen capitalized on the lack of direction to build a case against him, securing Adams' banishment.

Reflections on strategy and gameplay

Before entering The Traitors US, Adams prepared by watching previous seasons and adopting a strategy of being likable and staying under the radar. However, he admitted his plan unraveled quickly.

“I was the one steering the boat during the first mission, which wasn’t part of my strategy. But they said, ‘We need someone who’s a leader,’ and everyone voted for me. I knew I was in trouble,” he said.

Additionally, Adams shared that he was indifferent about his role in the game. He mentioned that he would have been open to being a Traitor but believed he might be more effective as a Faithful, given his experience on Bachelor in Paradise, where his role involved observing, listening, and offering advice.

Looking back, Adams acknowledged that being a Traitor might have given him more control over his fate, but he remained confident in his ability to judge character, even as a Faithful.

Friendship with Chanel Ayan and thoughts on other players

Adams formed a close bond with Chanel Ayan during his brief time on The Traitors US.

“I talk to her every single day. She is the most wonderful person I’ve met,” he said.

Despite being eliminated early, Adams appreciated the chance to connect with someone he described as a “bright shining light.” In contrast, Adams was frustrated by the Traitors’ decisions to target Medley and Ayan, arguing that they were not strategic eliminations. “The Traitors are so dumb,” he said bluntly.

“They got rid of Dorinda, who everyone thought was a Traitor, and then Ayan, who had no idea what was going on. Get rid of people who are threats.”

The next episode of The Traitors US will air on Thursday, January 16.
