The reality show Love is Blind: Habibi's journey brings together singles seeking love without the influence of physical appearances, allowing them to form deep connections in isolated pods. Simo and Hajar's initial spark in the pods quickly grew into a commitment, with Simo proposing, leading them to enter the next phase of the experiment as an engaged couple.

However, despite their strong start, cracks appeared during their vacation together as conflicting expectations surfaced. Simo anticipated unwavering loyalty from Hajar, especially during difficult situations, while Hajar held boundaries shaped by her past experiences.

This rift intensified when Simo engaged in a conflict with another cast member, Chafic, ultimately leading him to leave the show without saying goodbye to Hajar, a decision that left her and viewers with many unanswered questions. When asked about their connection in the show, Simo said,

"I am not good for her, and she is not good for me."

The recent reunion episode of Love is Blind: Habibi marked the first time the two met since the abrupt split, and it brought to light the unspoken tensions between them as they candidly shared their perspectives.

Hajar’s side of the story in Love is Blind: Habibi

During the Love is Blind: Habibi reunion, when asked if she was upset with Simo’s departure, Hajar shared her side of the story.

"I feel upset because people think Simo left because I didn’t stand by him," she explained, clarifying that her viewpoint differed from the viewers.

Hajar believed that his departure was more about his pride than her loyalty, especially following his fight with Chafic. While Simo had hoped for her support in the conflict, Hajar revealed her challenges, explaining that she has a past trauma related to physical confrontations, making it difficult for her to support actions she felt uncomfortable with.

She also shared her frustration with how one of her comments in the pods, a light-hearted remark about wanting to “try another cake,” was taken out of context. While Simo interpreted it as questioning her commitment, Hajar clarified it was simply a figure of speech, not a reflection of her feelings toward their relationship. Despite this, she regretted the misunderstanding and apologized for any hurt it caused.

Simo's perspective in Love is Blind: Habibi reunion

When asked about the possibility of reconciliation, Simo candidly expressed that he considered their differences to be irreconcilable, feeling that he and Hajar were fundamentally incompatible. He emphasized their contrasting views on loyalty and commitment, explaining that her “cake” comment had offended him as he saw it as a sign of wavering commitment.

For him, loyalty and support were crucial, and he felt hurt that Hajar had chosen to confide in others rather than standing by him. In response to her suggestion that he take accountability, Simo defended his actions, stating that he had acted according to his upbringing and values and could not compromise on what he believed was right. He said,

"I wasn't wrong. This is how I was raised."

When the host asked Hajar what she would change if she could return in time, she replied she wouldn't be spontaneous with people she doesn't know. She continued that she would never reveal her weaknesses because when problems occur, those weaknesses are used against her.

The reunion further reinforced Simo's decision to move on, as he felt their core differences would ultimately prevent them from building a successful relationship.

The reunion episode of Love is Blind: Habibi is currently streaming on Netflix.
