Jarrett "JT" Thomas’s departure from Southern Charm before season 10's premiere has sparked significant reactions from his fellow cast members. Madison LeCroy, in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly on December 4, 2024, shared her thoughts on JT's exit, stating,

“I think it became more of this, like, he caught the house on fire and then stepped away when everyone had a reaction — and not a good one... He was no longer wanted in the group.”

This comment, made after JT's unexpected departure, reflects the tension that surrounded his exit, along with other mixed responses from the show's cast. Several of his castmates have provided their perspectives on what led to his decision and what it means for the future of Southern Charm.

Circumstances around JT’s departure from Southern Charm, explored

On November 8, 2024, JT announced via Instagram that he had resigned from Southern Charm. Noting that he would not be participating in the remaining interviews for the upcoming season, he stated,

“It comes with a heavy heart to share that I have resigned from Southern Charm.”

JT, however, did not specify the reasons behind his decision to leave, prompting speculation among both fans and cast members. His departure raised questions about the internal dynamics within the group and whether tensions contributed to his choice to exit.

Madison LeCroy also explained that JT had alluded to leaving Southern Charm earlier in the season, but noted that such remarks were common among the cast. She further recalled that she was a "little shocked" by JT's announcement, but underscored that the show will be "just fine" without him.

Reactions from other cast members

Madison’s comments were echoed by other members of the cast as well, as each offered their perspective on JT’s departure and the circumstances surrounding it.

Austen Kroll, who had a strained relationship with JT during season 9, provided his view on JT’s exit in an interview with Us Weekly on December 5, 2024. He emphasized that JT's departure highlighted a lack of accountability, stating,

“The announcement was a bit grandiose. My take is that — I mean the hypocrisy of it all is crazy. The second that a mirror gets held in his face, rather than own it and take accountability he just [splits].”

Austen pointed out that JT’s behavior during the reunion reflected the same pattern, suggesting that JT found it hard to face difficult situations. When asked about the possibility of him returning to the show, Austen underscored that he did not see a way forward for JT, stating,

“I don’t see a path back.”

Leva Bonaparte also shared her thoughts on JT’s behavior and departure. In an interview with Us Weekly on December 4, 2024, Leva explained that JT’s actions often seemed chaotic, making it difficult to predict how he would react to various situations. She highlighted that while JT’s behavior might have made for entertaining television, it also created challenges behind the scenes.

Leva further noted that JT faced several accusations during the season 10, particularly regarding his interactions with Venita Aspen. She explained that this complicated dynamic, along with other pressures, likely contributed to his departure. Despite these challenges, Leva described JT as a “good guy,” acknowledging the complexities of his character.

Taylor Ann Green, on the other hand, was not surprised by JT’s exit, explaining in an interview with Us Weekly on December 5, 2024, that his decision to leave seemed consistent with his previous actions. She emphasized that his departure after a difficult season appeared to be an attention-seeking move, stating,

“It didn’t really take me by surprise. It seems a little up JT’s alley to try to get everybody’s attention.”

Taylor further explained that while the other cast also faced challenges during the season, they continued to show up, which made JT’s exit appear "selfish." She stated,

“For him to have a hiccup and then all of a sudden just bail is very selfish in my opinion.”
