"Not what I was looking for"- Love Is Blind Habibi star Asma opens up about her and Khatab's split

Netflix's Love Is Blind may not be the only reality show in their catalog, but it is definitely one of the most popular among reality TV fans. The dating franchise released yet another spin-off, Love Is Blind Habibi which premiered on October 10, 2024. Like its predecessor, it featured various singles who entered the experiment in hopes of finding the love of their life.

Love Is Blind Habibi included participants from Middle Eastern countries like Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Tunisia. The streaming giant released the reunion episode for the show on November 1, 2024, and showcased the stories of six couples who got out of the pods with a partner. The six couples were Khatab and Asma, Chafic and Dounia, Safa and Mohammad, Mido and Nour, Simo and Hajar, Ammar and Karma.

Khatab and Asma went through all the trials and tribulations that a relationship brings and, in the finale, stood on the altar. The pair did not get married but stayed together for a month after filming.

In the reunion, when the hosts of the show, Khaled Saqer and Elham Ali asked the pair to give an update, Khatab claimed that Asma wanted more attention and communication but couldn't provide her time due to his busy work schedule. Asma later said Khatab is different from what she expects from her partner.

"I understand because I'm very work-oriented. He took that as a sign to work on his career and this is not what I was looking for. I was looking for someone who is emotionally there," retorted Asma.

Love Is Blind Habibi reunion: Asma believes looks are not everything in a relationship

Elham Ali posed a question in front of Asma whether she believed looks were everything. Asma replied that a marital relationship needs a lot of layers, including looks. She further explained that it wouldn't matter in the end as other qualities can overshadow any lacking features.

"Looks are superficial and they don't last. Being attracted to someone's looks lasts only for a while. But what lasts overtime is affection and understanding," stated Asma.

During the early part of the show, Asma found herself in a love triangle with Mido and Khatab. Mido worked as a real estate consultant, while Khatab was a DJ and architect. While sharing her criteria, Asma revealed that she wanted someone physically fit. Khatab, being on the heavier side, did not fit in that category, but Asma still chose him after he expressed his desire to change.

After they met face-to-face for the first time after pod dates, Asma rejected Khatab's proposal as she "needed some time to think." She later returned with Khatab to give their relationship another chance after the latter disclosed that he was running successful business ventures.

Addressing her decision to leave Mido, Asma expressed that the audience might have had the wrong idea looking at the events unfold, but her decision to leave Mido and choose Khatab was not monetary.

"It seemed like this was one of the main reasons why I didn't stay with Mido and chose Khatab instead. But the real reason is I consider many layers," said Asma.

She also disclosed that communication between her and Mido was great since they had "so much fun" while talking in the pods of Love Is Blind Habibi. Despite this, she felt she couldn't reach the deeper layers of Mido as a person which ultimately was the deciding factor in her opting for Khatab.
