The Traitors is a murder mystery competition series in which reality TV stars from shows such as Survivor, Big Brother, and Real Housewives compete for the grand prize. Hosted by Alan Cumming, the players are either faithful or traitors and have to identify the traitor amongst them.

Chanel Ayan, one of the cast members of The Real Housewives of Dubai was also part of The Traitors season 3. In the Tuesday, January 21, 2025, podcast episode of Gabbing With Gib, Ayan revealed that she thought the Survivor alums had faced actual hardships and were victims of actual diseases.

She shared that she figured out that Survivor was a reality TV series after she was murdered on the show.

"I only knew people from the Bravo world. I didn’t know the other people because they were all like, ‘I am a Survivor [alum], I personally thought they survived things like me,” Ayan said.

Alongside Ayan, The Traitors season 3 cast members included Wells Adams, Gabby Windey, Ciara Miller, Chrishell Stause, Jeremy, Carolyn Wiger, Tony, Bob the Drag Queen, Britney Haynes, and Danielle Reyes. Bob Harper, Dylan Efron, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Sam Asghar, Nikki Bella, Boston Rob, Wes Bergmann, and Derrick.

During the podcast interview, The Traitors star stated she didn't know that Survivor was a show. Her fellow cast members in the reality competition series included Tony Vlachos, Jeremy Collins, and Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano. Reflecting on the hardships she faced in her childhood, Ayan stated she thought "survivors" were actual victims of a disease.

"I have survived female genital mutilation, malaria, typhoid, ebola and a drought. Like everything. So I was like, ‘What have you survived? Then Derrick [Levasseur] is like, 'I lost 40 pounds,'” she elaborated.

The Traitors star continued explaining that she didn't realize there was a reality TV survival competition show called the Survivor until she was eliminated from the show.

“Even when I died, I still didn’t understand them. I left and died and that is when I realized there’s a TV show called Survivor,” she said.

Ayan was murdered on The Traitors and during the aftershow, she opened up about her early departure. The Real Housewives of Dubai shared that she didn't plan a specific route or strategy before entering season 3. As viewers already know, Bob the Drag Queen was a traitor and when he targeted Ayan, she had to exit the show after getting murdered. Chanel continued,

“I am a beauty b*tch, I am not a thinking b*tch. I think I was killed because I am fabulous. Bob the Drag Queen, I think he killed me. I thought that he was jealous about my looks because a couple of times he would [make a face]."

She concluded by stating that other people usually feel "jealous" of her looks and called out Bob the Drag Queen for his strategy.
