The third season of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On released on December 4, 2024, and featured six couples navigating critical junctures in their relationships. The six couples participating in this experiment are Zaina and J.R., Nick and Sandy, Mariah and Caleb, Scotty and Aria, Chanel and Micah, and Vanessa and Dave.

In episode 6, J.R. and Sandy strolled together in a park. Their conversation turned to the uncertainty of their future, with the looming Changeover weighing on their minds.

For the unversed, J.R. and Sandy decided to get together for a trial marriage and by the end of the episode, would go back to their original partners.

Sandy jokingly remarked that their walk was leading them to the courthouse for a divorce to which J.R. responded playfully as they continued their banter.

"This is our last walk together. You’re like, 'Finally, I'm free,'" quipped J.R.

What happened to Sandy-Nick and J.R.-Zaina in The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On's first 8 episodes?

Zaina's decision to enter into a trial marriage with Scotty initially showed promise. Scotty encouraged Zaina to be more "vulnerable" and exclaimed that he saw potential in her as a wife and mother.

However, their relationship hit a roadblock after a drama-filled Boys' Night led to a clash over a rumor about J.R. seeking a hall pass.

The argument escalated, and Zaina saw a different side of Scotty as he assumed she was to blame. Although they tried to move past the fight on The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, their trial marriage ended on rocky terms.

"You are painting a real ugly picture of yourself with your true colors now," stated Scotty while arguing with Zaina.

In contrast, J.R.'s connection with Sandy continued to grow stronger during their trial marriage on The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. They both claimed that their attraction went beyond physical chemistry, and even shared a few kisses.

Despite Nick's lingering presence, J.R. and Sandy made the most of their time together.

J.R. expressed his admiration for Sandy, telling her she would make a great wife and that he could envision himself "married to someone like Sandy.”

Later, the changeover ceremony brought a dramatic turn of events as Zaina was shocked to discover that J.R. and Sandy had kissed multiple times during their trial marriage, for which J.R. apologized.

Although initially taken aback, Zaina chose not to hold onto resentment as they entered the next phase of the experiment of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. The physical intimacy between J.R. and Sandy caused Zaina to be uncertain about J.R.'s readiness for commitment.

“We just have to figure out if we’re ready to take that next step, and do life together or not,” said Zaina.

Sandy's partner, Nick, shared with Vanessa his feelings about their unique connection as he felt seen and understood by her. However, upon learning that Sandy and J.R. had shared a kiss, Nick's emotions dwindled.

This ultimately led to Vanessa's decision to leave the experiment. In a desperate attempt to salvage his relationship, Nick made a bold move by visiting Sandy and J.R.'s apartment.

This surprise encounter led to a heated exchange between the trio. Despite the drama, Sandy and J.R. focused on nurturing their relationship, which gained momentum after J.R. received approval from Sandy's family.

As their trial marriage progressed, Sandy and J.R. began contemplating a life together beyond the experiment.

However, Nick's persistent interference made it challenging for the couple to fully detach from their past on The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. Sandy ultimately broke down in tears and felt she had been prioritizing other people before herself.

“I have to take care of all of these people and I’m not really taking care of myself. I have to manage sh*t with Nick, but I don’t want to upset you,” said Sandy.

Later, the changeover marked a reunion for Nick and Sandy, but their reunion was marred by unresolved tension. Nick struggled to come to terms with the physical intimacy Sandy shared with J.R. during their trial marriage.

Sandy perceived Nick's behavior as possessive and controlling, and Nick ultimately apologized for his actions and vowed to fight for their future.
