The first six episodes of Outlast season 2 were released on September 4, 2024, in which 16 competitors vying for a million dollars go up against each other in the Alaskan wilderness. The major twist that could make or break competitors' chances of victory is that they must be part of a team to win.

In such dire circumstances where nature is not your only enemy, competitors must form strategic alliances whilst looking out for themselves. Not unlike season 1 of Outlast, there will be four teams in the game: the Alpha Camp, Bravo Camp, Charlie Camp, and Delta Camp. Each camp starts the game with four players, but the players can change their teams in the middle.

The competitors get one day to find a new team, but if they fail to join the team on that very day, they must forfeit the game. Players can also quit any time within the game by shooting a flare into the sky.

The cast of Outlast includes Bayardo (Bayo) Hernandez, Brendon Ash, Bri Walston, Deontre (Tre) Thomas, Drake Vliem, Drew Haas, Emily Johnston, Eric Shevchenko, Joey DiDesidero, Joseph Malbrough, Julio Laboy, Meghan Buchanan, Sammy Norris, Tina Grimm, Tonia Willman, and Zach Owens.

As thunderstorms hit, competitors are brought in a boat and instructed to not speak to one another. A helicopter goes over them and drops a package containing the rules of the game and four hatchets with different color bands. Drew, Julio, Eric, and Zach picked up the hatchets and asked to pick their teams.

Drew picked Drake, Sammy, and Emily to form the Bravo camp. Julio picked Brianna, Meghan, and Joey to form the Charlie camp. Eric picked Brendon, Tina, and Joseph to form the Delta camp.

Zach picked Bayo, Tre, and Tonia to form the Alpha camp. Team Alpha and Bravo shared the same coastline, with Charlie and Delta situated on the other side.

Each team was then given a bow and eight arrows, a knife, a flint, two tarps, a flashlight, binoculars, a paracord, and a small pot. Tonia and Bayo showed concerns regarding Zach handling the leadership role, but Bayo was still willing to give him a chance. Drew and Drake seemed to become fast friends as they bonded over the fact that they both belonged to the state of Texas.

In the Delta camp, Brendon was hesitant about Eric taking the leadership role but Tina seemed to embrace it because she is "not a leader" herself. In the Charlie camp, things were much different than in other camps as Brianna was concerned about the lack of leadership in the camp.

As night fell, the Charlie camp suffered the worst of fates as they failed to light a fire beside the camp. Julio started shivering but was able to make it till the sun came up. The teams of Outlast were determined to catch prey to satiate their needs to get protein in their bodies.

The Alpha camp successfully found shelter, food, and water and Bayo declared his desire to eliminate other competitors. He was also the first one to hunt a squirrel before Zach who claimed to have killed many animals with his bow and arrow back home.

Zach later declared his desire to form an alliance with the Bravo camp as Bayo still doubted his credentials to lead. As the episode is about to end, Bayo and Zach exchange pleasantries with the Alpha team.

Bayo later stole two cans from them which created a conflict between the two camps, while Zach claimed to have been "caught off guard" by Bayo's actions.

The final two episodes of Outlast season 2 will air on September 11, 2024.
