Outlast, the Netflix survival competition series is back with another season. Season 2 will premiere exclusively on Netflix on September 2, 2024, and air episodes in batches. This season will feature 16 contestants competing for the million-dollar grand prize. Throughout the show, participants are split into teams, based on their choice, in Little Duncan Bay, Alaska, where they face nature's harsh conditions.

With limited food supplies, water, and shelter, the final grand prize is the only thing motivating the cast to keep going. The season 2 trailer gives further glimpses of what fans can expect from the upcoming show and what new approach to the existing competition can improve viewers' experience.

Outlast season 2 trailer was released on August 7, 2024, on the official Netflix YouTube channel. The trailer description states the following:

"Outlast is back for another season of thrilling competition where 16 lone wolf experts are dropped in the Alaskan wilderness and must outlast each other in a battle for a million dollar payout. There's only one rule in this cut throat game: they must be part of a team to win."

3 main highlights from the Outlast season 2 trailer

1) A survival competition

At the beginning of the Outlast season 2 trailer, one of the contestants narrates the show rules. He states that each participant has the option to switch and leave teams and can also "quit the game at any time."

This show format tests each person's survival skills and whether they have the stamina to test themselves with physical and mental challenges. The background narration states:

"Welcome to outlast the game with only one rule. You must be a part of a team in order to win. You can change teams at will. You may quit the game at any time by shooting a flare into the sky. The last team standing wins and will the split the one million dollar prize."

2) Everyone's true nature

As the show format is strict and pushes each member to its limit, all cast members' true intentions will be revealed. In this game of survival of the fittest, teams can hide their opponent's supplies, backstab their fellow co-stars, and take the short route to make it to the end. One of the players admitted that money can make people do anything.

"Money can make people pretty evil," he said.

Despite the game requiring team efforts, some people play selfishly too. Another player confessed to taking a path that wasn't exactly fair.

"Sometimes you gotta be a bad guy," she said.

3) Extreme conditions

The extreme weather conditions and lack of food will affect players' health and their ability to follow strategy. This is a test to see how long they can stay in the game, as everyone has the full liberty to walk out of the competition whenever they want to. There, brave players are ready to sacrifice their basic necessities, sleep, and comfort to win the game.

In the Outlast teaser, one of the team members was worried after their fellow player passed out. They immediately called the ambulance.

"She has blacked out and went unconscious. We were no longer in the game. We were in a life-or-death situation."

Don't forget to stream season 2 only on Netflix from September 2, 2024, onwards.
