What happened on Owning Manhattan episode 2?
Owning Manhattan episode 2 starts with Ryan, SERHANT.’s CEO, gathering his top real estate agents to get the world's most expensive property sold. This listing is a penthouse at Central Park Tower, from which six different states can be viewed.
The $250 million penthouse was given as a challenge to his agents. Any team member who gets a buyer for this listing will be given $10 million for their efforts. Ryan explained that he had assigned tasks to his top salespeople, who have different networks. A few have connections across Asia, while others have strong links in the tech community.
Later in the episode, the Owning Manhattan cast member had a discussion with his wife about real estate. He said that it was getting a lot for him to take on, and Ryan's wife agreed that he might burn himself out with so many roles he's already taken on.
She suggested that SERHANT.’s CEO should hire a COO and share his responsibilities with someone trustworthy. However, Ryan revealed he had no intentions of doing that; he told his wife:
"I just don't like it. I don't know if I can relinquish that type of control to someone that doesn't know what we've been through for the last 15 years."
Next, Ryan met up with his new agent, Jonathan Nørmølle, who doesn't dress up like a real estate agent or look like one. Ryan partnered with him for a new listing to hunt clients in the entertainment industry. Jonathan has connections in the modeling industry, actors, influencers, and young people looking for luxurious apartments in New York City.
On Owning Manhattan, Ryan shared that he wanted to stay updated with what's new and that hiring someone young can benefit the company in multiple ways, he told Jonathan:
"When I look at you, I don't immediately think top broker in New York City. And that excites me though. Because I look at everybody else who's trying to be like me for the last ten years. But I look at you and I think "new wave." I think a different generation of buyers, sellers, customers, lawyers, bankers."
