Harry Jowsey, the 27-year-old fashion model and social media influencer, has stepped back into reality television with his appearance on Perfect Match season 2.

Hailing from the land down under, Harry was raised in Yeppoon, Australia. No stranger to reality television, fans are quite familiar with Harry, as before his appearance in Perfect Match season 2, he appeared on multiple dating shows.

Although he first appeared in a New Zealand dating show, Heartbreak Island, his appearance on Netflix's Too Hot To Handle brought him into the limelight. Additionally, Harry showcased his dance skills on another reality show, Dancing With The Stars, which more or less solidified his place in the entertainment industry.

Career of Harry Jowsey

Harry Jowsey's transition from the small screen to an entrepreneur has been difficult. He shared his views on his reality television career in an interview with Forbes in 2021.

"I realized this was exactly what I needed to do. This is how I needed to be. I need to make people laugh and try and help people have that little laugh, whether it's an escape or they see me as some dumb idiot to look good on TV. "

Besides being in front of the camera, Harry has made various attempts at starting his own brand. His career extends beyond reality television since he works as a fashion model and social media influencer. As of June 2024, he boasts over 4.3 million followers on his Instagram.

Since his fame has risen, he has collaborated with numerous high-profile brands like Tommy Hilfiger underwear and Calvin Klein, leveraging his online presence to build a strong personal brand.

Presently, Harry Jowsey runs his own luxury candle line, The Ritual. He also produces his podcast, Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey, where he delves into various topics, including his personal life and appearances on different dating shows.

Harry's struggles with mental health and alcohol abuse

Fans of Perfect Match have seen Harry's journey from a mere 20-year-old to now, as he appeared in various shows before this. But according to Harry, he has had to pay the price for it. In a 2021 interview with Forbes, Harry opened up about his struggling career early on:

"I was at university, but it wasn't working for me. I wasn't really happy. I was trying to become a model."

Harry Jowsey then signed up for a modeling agency, but paying for sign-up fees and casting call photos had impacted him financially.

"I spent all my money trying to get to like Sydney. I didn't have a lot of money and was at university trying to figure it out."

Harry also spoke about the dark thoughts that have followed him since his teenage years, and how he previously turned to self-harm.

"I used to cut the top of my arm instead of the underneath. There is a scar there."

Scared to share these struggles with his parents, Harry confessed, masking his injuries in front of them.

"I used to do the top of my arms because I didn't want my parents to think that I was sad."

Harry Jowsey also opened up about alcohol abuse in a new episode of his podcast, Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey. He acknowledged his erratic behavior on multiple occasions and credited it to him abusing alcohol during the filming of Perfect Match.

"I was absolutely sideways 90% of the time."

He recalled that during the shoot of Perfect Match, he would joke about drinking alcohol instead of water and made a comment about his own appearance during that time.

"If you look at my eyes, I look very drunk. I look like I've got problems, and I did have a lot of problems."

The finale of Perfect Match season 2 will air on Netflix on Friday, June 21.
