The Real Housewives of New York City season 15 finale premiered on January 21, 2025. The episode saw Brynn Whitfield reveal to her castmates that she was upset with Ubah Hassan for suggesting she "slept with someone" to secure her spot on the reality show. Brynn added that Ubah's claims were especially hurt as they were made after Whitfield had confided in Hassan about being s*xually assaulted.

Before the reunion episode, Brynn addressed her co-star Ubah Hassan's comments in an interview with Rolling Stone, published on January 22, 2025. Whitfield told the publication that she has worked hard her "entire life" adding that she put herself through college. The Real Housewives of New York City cast member said that she "never had mommy or daddy" to give her a job or help her write a resume.

Brynn noted that she had lived on her friends' couches and had cried in "the bathrooms of PR agencies," before learning to negotiate and "work [my] way up." Whitfield told Rolling Stone that she worked hard and her "a** off."

"If you have a problem with someone, that’s fine, but suggesting something that’s pretty disgusting [and] doesn’t settle well with me. I used my brain, I didn’t have to do anything else. Women don’t have to lie, cheat, steal, or f**k in order to get to the top," she said, describing Ubah's comments.

Brynn Whitfield expressed that she found it hurtful as a woman to have her entire career diminished and wrongfully equated to something related to s*x. She implied that women should support each other rather than pull each other down.

The Real Housewives of New York City's Brynn reflects on opening up about her s*xually assault

The season finale of The Real Housewives of New York City marked the end of the cast's trip to Puerto Rico. During the episode, tensions between Brynn Whitfield and Ubah Hassan arose further after Brynn accused Ubah of belittling her past.

In her interview with Rolling Stone, Brynn reflected on her decision to open up about her experience of being s*xually assaulted. She shared that one of the first calls she had with the producers for The Real Housewives of New York City season 15 was them asking her to showcase her dating life on the reality show.

Brynn then had to open up to the producers about her s*xual assault and how it was impacting her ability to date. This led to a heartfelt scene with her brother discussing the same issue.

"So I filmed with my brother and I shared [about my s*xual assault and] the connection between that and why I’m kind of dodging dating, and why I make jokes about only dating billionaires," the Real Housewives of New York City star shared.

Brynn explained that last season she didn't intend on sharing her turbulent childhood. However, when she did it helped her a lot in "ways that years and years of therapy couldn’t." So she decided to talk about her s*xual assault on the show hoping that it would help her feel better.

The Real Housewives of New York City star added that after talking about the matter on the show with her brother, she shared it with Ubah. The reality star noted that she trusted Ubah with her story given that her co-star going through things herself.

After Ubah commented on Brynn's past during the finale, she approached Brynn to apologize. However, Brynn rejected the apology and explained that as a viewer, she understood how it made sense for them to get closure. She added that in real life, on the other hand, she needed time to process if she was "truly offended or hurt," noting that she didn't want to talk about it at that time.

"I need to cool off and take three days or so and then I’m ready to talk, because I have a clear mind, and I’ll be receptive to what you’re saying. If I get that hurt, I’ll just go into defense mode, and my walls go up immediately," Brynn continued.

The Real Housewives of New York City season 15 reunion part 1 will air on Bravo on January 28. The entire primary cast will reunite to reflect on the events of the recent season and share their thoughts on everything that transpired.
