Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, the winner of Love Island UK season 8, has returned to the franchise for season 2 of Love Island: All Stars. Her return raises the question: Why would a past winner choose to return to the show? Cülcüloğlu addressed this in a statement made before the show's premiere, explaining,

“The fact that there’s an opportunity to do it again – why not! Why can’t a winner go back in and re-write her story and have a second chance?!”

Ekin-Su brings a unique vibe to Love Island: All Stars season 2, joining a star-studded lineup with Kaz Crossley, Curtis Pritchard, and Marcel Somerville in the South African villa. Host Maya Jama returns to provide continuity for viewers.

A second chance at love

Ekin-Su won Love Island with Davide Sanclimenti, captivating fans with their dynamic relationship. They starred in a travel special, Ekin-Su and Davide: Homecomings. Despite reconciling after a 2023 breakup, they split again in January 2024.

Returning to the franchise provides Ekin-Su with an opportunity to forge new connections and revisit the unique environment of the Love Island villa. She expressed in her interview, released by ITV before the season premiere, that the show holds a special place in her life, saying,

“It’s somewhere I’ve laughed, cried, and learned so much.”

A more mature perspective

Since her initial appearance, Ekin-Su has had a busy and varied career. She competed in Dancing on Ice in 2023, appeared in The Traitors US season 2, and participated in Celebrity Big Brother in 2024. Through these experiences, she believes she has grown and matured, which she referenced in her ITV interview:

“I’m more mature now and I’ve learned some lessons along the way – I might not react the same way as I did a few years ago, or I might do! We’ll never know until I’m there.”

Ekin-Su’s return also serves as a reflection of the evolving nature of reality television, where past contestants can re-enter the spotlight under different circumstances, offering both themselves and audiences a fresh perspective on their journey.

Who is Ekin-Su?

Born on August 21, 1994, in Islington, London, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has established herself as a prominent figure in the entertainment world. Before her time on Love Island, she studied performing arts at the University of Central Lancashire and acted in Turkish television series such as Kuzey Yıldızı İlk Aşk.
