Too Hot To Handle season 6 has concluded after ten episodes, this gave viewers a chance to reflect on how different this season was from others. Bad Lana's introduction, banishment quarters, and new retreat guests were done to challenge contestants. Fans already know that the main purpose of the show was to help participants build a strong connection with their love match without being physically intimate.
Brenden Durell, who had worked with the show production for the past five seasons, explained why he was in favor of the additions and changes made this season. Referring to Bad Lana, Durell shared that her introduction to the show was "amazing." Even though Bad Lana encouraged contestants to follow their hearts by breaking the rules, she also helped them recognize their unhealthy patterns. She allowed the retreat guests to "express their desires," he said,
"This is great because bad lana is like a representative of the primal desire that we all have as humans, for its love, for s*x, for the primal nature of what it is to be in a relationship. So I feel that this implementation of Bad Lana is super great for the show."
Brenden explains why the new Too Hot To Handle format works for the show
The Too Hot To Handle intimacy expert pointed out the elements that he approves of in the Netflix dating show. Previously, the show production didn't tell the participants what they were signing up for. This time, however, all contestants knew the purpose of this show was to dig deeper, develop as a person, and find their love match.
However, the cast members struggled to find out what they wanted, whether they wanted to explore more connections or keep continuing their relationship with their current partner. Durell said each player had their approach to the dating show. For example, Chris was wondering if the connection he built with someone in the retreat would last in the outside world.
His fundamental thought process was to connect with someone he saw the future with. Charlie wasn't taking the rules too seriously. He seemed as if he was there to have fun and was looking for something temporary rather than permanent.
Durell continued by stating how some people had their eyes on the prize fund, fame or they genuinely wanted to look for a partner on Too Hot To Handle. He said,
"In this season, there's some contestants who came in because they're looking for a partner. And there's some ones coming in, like Charlie who just wants to have fun."
Brenden Durell also praised the show production for adding the element of temptation, which made it clear to the couples whether they wanted to work on their mistakes or fall back into the same patterns. He said,
"There's a new implementation of 'Bad Lana', but 'Bad Lana' is essentially I would say, an alter ego to Lana. It's like the dark side of Lana, It allows people to express hidden desires, and to see how they act when there's no rules in place."
