"Let’s all remember, no one is alone" — Kamala Harris delivers a voting message on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars

Kamala Harris has long been an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, a commitment that dates back to her time as District Attorney for San Francisco City and County in 2003. During her tenure, Harris conducted same-s*x marriages in 2004 following San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's declaration of same-s*x marriage legality, which was later nullified by the court.

In 2023, Harris told The Advocate that one of the most joyful moments of her career was performing same-s*x marriages. Additionally, in February 2024, Kamala Harris reunited with one of the gay couples she wed. The vice president told The Advocate:

"I'll never forget pulling up to see all the families of every configuration and just pure joy, pure happiness. It was such a special moment, and it was all about love."

In her recent campaign appearance on RuPaul Drag Race All Stars, Harris delivered a message prompting the viewers to utilize their right to vote. She mentioned that everyday people are seeing their rights and freedoms under attack, including "the right of everyone to be who they are, love who they love, openly and with pride."

The Democratic nominee stated:

"So, as we fight back against these attacks, let’s all remember, no one is alone. We are all in this together, and your vote is your power. So please make sure your voice is heard this November, and register to vote."

The show has also been an advocate for voting rights for the LGBTQIA+ as well, given that RuPaul who is the show's host usually ends the show by reminding viewers to register to vote.

In addition to her appearance on RuPaul's Drag Race, Kamala Harris hosted a Pride Month reception at the Naval Observatory in June 2024 with Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. In her speech, Harris talked about the importance of coalition-building to protect the community against rising attacks.
