Rhythm + Flow: Brazil – Netflix’s first Brazilian music reality show, premiered on November 12, 2024. Inspired by the success of its U.S. counterpart, this show follows a similar format, allowing contestants to showcase their skills in rap and funk music, ultimately competing for a grand prize of R$ 500,000 and a role in the upcoming season of Sintonia.
Divided into two parts, the first four episodes are available from November 12, with the final two releasing on November 19. In the debut episode, titled The Next Big Thing, judges Filipe Ret, Djonga, and sisters Tasha and Tracie evaluated contestants across three major cities: Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and São Paulo.
Joining them as guest judges were notable artists Marcelo D2, FBC, and Karol Conká.
Among the episode highlights were tense rap battles and performances, with some contestants forgetting their lyrics, adding pressure to the competition of Rhythm + Flow: Brazil.
By the end of the episode, a few participants stood out, securing their spots in the next round. Notable performances included those by Afrodite, Guiu, Novak, OG Capitu, Maria Preta, Gabrelu, Ras, and Muse Maya.
Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte auditions of Rhythm + Flow: Brazil
The episode started in Rio de Janeiro, where judge Filipe Ret, accompanied by Marcelo D2, has high expectations from the contestants. The first duel was between Cold Jas and Afrodite BXD, who captured the judges' attention with her intense performance.
Marcelo praised Afrodite for her level of engagement, and both judges ultimately decided to advance her to the next round.
Another duo, Jump and Guiu, then competed, but both faced challenges with forgotten lyrics. Despite these setbacks, the judges were impressed with Guiu’s written lines and chose him to move forward.
The Rhythm + Flow: Brazil competition then moved to Belo Horizonte, where Djonga and FBC performed judging duties.
The first pair, Novak and Cafiero, delivered dynamic performances, though Cafiero struggled midway and resorted to freestyle to recover. The judges decided to listen to another rapper, OG Capitu.
Both Novak and OG Capitu advanced, as the judges were impressed by OG Capitu's energy and calmness under pressure.
São Paulo auditions and final selection in Rhythm + Flow: Brazil
In the final round of auditions of Rhythm + Flow: Brazil held in São Paulo, judges Tasha, Tracie, and guest judge Karol Conká faced the challenge of selecting contestants from a diverse pool of talented artists.
Each performer brought their style and background to the stage, making the decisions even harder for the judges.
Among the first group were Vickvi, Ras, and Maria Preta, each leaving an impression on the judges.
Vickvi's poetic lyrics displayed a passion that resonated with the judges, while Ras delivered a confident performance with a strong sense of rhythm and depth in his lyrics. Maria Preta also captivated the judges, highlighting the lyrics rooted in her life experiences.
Despite each contestant’s compelling performance, the judges needed more clarity before making their selections. When Gabrelu took the stage, his presence and rhythm delivery quickly caught their attention. His performance stood out for them, convincing the judges to move him forward, along with Maria Preta and Ras.
Later, Filipe Ret returned for a final evaluation between Muse Maya and Muxima. Although Muxima’s initial momentum faltered when he forgot his lyrics, Muse Maya remained calm and captivated the judges with her rap.
Her performance secured her a spot in the upcoming battle round, ending the São Paulo auditions on a high note.
