Rhythm + Flow season 2 episode 6 was released on November 27 on Netflix. The episode picked up where the last one left off and revealed Detroit Diamond as the final entrant of the top seven. The rest of the lineup included Jay Taj, DreTL, Yoshi Vintage, Tia P., Jaxs, and Sura Ali.
For the next round, the seven contestants had to prepare a fully fleshed debuted single along with an artwork that could represent it.
The three judges, DJ Khaled, Ludacris, and Latto, were joined by special guest judge GloRilla, who saw three of the top seven contestants showcase their stage presence with their debut singles.
What happened in Rhythm + Flow season 2 episode 6?
Detroit Diamond kicked off the debut singles round and performed her song Pressure. The judges were impressed by the energy and confidence that was packed in her presentation.
Ludacris told the contestant that she connected with everyone through her performance and that her song had that unexplained "vibration" and "frequency".
Rhythm + Flow special guest judge GloRilla liked her demeanor. However, she shared that she wasn't able to hear or relate to her lyrics.
"I don't know if it's because of how fast you was rapping or what, but I wasn't going off that, just going off your beat and energy. Everything was good. I just couldn't hear your lyrics and relate to them," GloRilla said.
Latto commended Detroit Diamond for being self-aware of her skills. The Rhythm + Flow season 2 contestant's artwork matched her personality and the judge was impressed by her improvement so far on the show.
DreTL hit the stage next and performed his debut single High Definition. While Latto liked the presentation she told the contestant that he should control his energy as sometimes it gets "shaky".
Judge DJ Khaled commended the Rhythm + Flow contestant's hook and called his song "raw." Meanwhile, Ludacris was impressed by how DreTL was able to include his past, present, and future all together in his lyrics.
While discussing his performance, GloRilla added:
"I personally loved it, like the whole thing. I got nothing bad to say. Like, you were super confident. Like, when you rapping, you meant everything you said. Like, how I rap, I be wanting a motherfucker to feel everything I'm saying. You came out confident. I ain't got nothing bad to say."
Yoshi Vintage was next and she performed Barely Made It. After her presentation, the Rhythm + Flow contestant explained that through her song she wanted to convey that she was proud of the fact that she "barely made it" and is now celebrating it.
Calling Yoshi's performance captivating, Latto said:
"Let me just tell you this. You did your thing, but I think in the beginning, I think you kind of wigged out because it wasn't like a turn-up, turn-up performance. But I think you already captivated us with the beat choice and then just, like, your flows and stuff off the rip."
While GloRilla understood the message of the song she shared that she was disconnected from the beat. Ludacris agreed and added that the beat of her song did not match what she was doing on the stage.
DJ Khaled felt like Yoshi Vintage was trying to do everything in her song and it pulled back her potential. He added that although the song was good it wasn't at the level of DreTL and Detroit Diamond.
Yoshi appreciated the constructive criticism that the judges gave her. However, when she entered backstage she was disappointed and angered by how things went.
Rhythm + Flow season 2 episodes 1-7 are available on Netflix.
