Episode 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 aired on January 10, 2025, continuing the two-part premiere. After last week's talent show and Squirrel Games, the remaining seven queens showcased their skills and faced the Rate-A-Queen twist. Guest judge Doechii joined the panel, replacing Katy Perry from the premiere.

Like the first episode, the top two queens competed in a lip sync to decide the challenge winner. However, this time an elimination loomed. The queens also encountered RuPaul's new twist, the Badonka Dunk Tank, offering a chance at redemption.

Highlights included performances like Lexi Love’s roller derby-inspired talent show act and Hormona Lisa’s stand-up routine, which failed to impress her fellow queens. By the end of the episode, one queen faced elimination, but the twist ensured no one left the competition just yet.

Lexi Love impresses the panel in RuPaul's Drag Race

Lexi Love performed a roller derby-inspired act for the talent show in episode 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race season 17. The performance stood out for its concept and execution. RuPaul acknowledged her efforts, saying,

“You brought something fresh and fun to the stage.”

The other queens also recognized the distinct approach, which placed her among the most notable participants this week. On the runway, Lexi presented a TV screen-inspired outfit that met the theme requirements. Michelle Visage commented on the design, saying,

“You took a simple concept and made it fashion.”

Her work in both the talent show and runway challenge placed her in the top two alongside Crystal Envy. During the lip sync, Lexi approached the performance with focus and consistency, maintaining her momentum.

RuPaul named her the winner of the challenge, securing her first win of the season. Her choices and execution in both challenges made her one of the more noticeable contestants in this episode of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Hormona Lisa faces challenges but gets a second chance

Hormona Lisa had a tough week in episode 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race. Her stand-up comedy routine for the talent show challenge didn’t land well with the judges or her fellow queens. The Rate-A-Queen twist placed her at the bottom of the rankings, with one queen commenting,

"Comedy is hard, but this just didn’t make us laugh.”

Her struggles continued on the runway with a Marie Antoinette-inspired look that drew mixed reviews. Michelle Visage remarked,

“The concept is there, but the execution feels unfinished,” further pushing Hormona’s spot in the bottom two.

She faced Acacia Forgot in the lip sync for survival, delivering a performance that wasn’t enough to save her. However, RuPaul introduced the Badonka Dunk Tank twist, giving eliminated queens a chance to save themselves. Hormona pulled a lever, which dunked Michelle Visage into the tank, prompting RuPaul to declare, “Condragulations, you’re staying!”

This twist kept Hormona Lisa in the competition, leaving all 14 queens still in the race. Other highlights included Crystal Envy impressing the judges with her performance and securing a spot in the top two. Onya Nurve and Sam Star delivered their talent show acts and remained safe this week.

The Rate-A-Queen twist sparked tension as queens openly critiqued each other’s performances, adding to the competitive atmosphere.
