In a recent episode of The Real Housewives of New York season 15, tensions flared between Ubah Hassan and Brynn Whitfield. After a heated argument, Ubah stormed out, visibly upset. Brynn attempted to defuse the situation and calm her down, hoping to ease the tension between them.

In her confessional, Brynn shared that her priority with Ubah was to ensure her castmate did not come across as angry. She told Ubah she did not want her to be perceived as an "angry Black woman."

Brynn released a statement via her Instagram story on October 1, apologizing for her actions shown in the recent episode.

She claimed that the incident stemmed from off-camera interactions the cast had in the Hamptons, which were conveyed without context on the show. She added that she was scared by how her intentions were twisted and words were conveyed without context in the show.

"I sat in shock this week, as off-camera interactions in the Hamptons were conveyed without context. To see my intentions twisted and my words misrepresented, flat out scares me," Brynn wrote in her statement.

Brynn Whitfield issued a heartfelt apology, expressing regret if she "overstepped that night in the Hamptons." She extended her sincerest apologies to viewers, clarifying that it was never her intention to come across that way in the episode.

In her statement, The Real Housewives of New York star further went into the incident and provided context and explanation behind her “angry Black woman” comment. She explained that the episode was edited to make it seem as though she brought up the "stereotype" out of nowhere and on her own, which was not the case.

Brynn claimed that the "angry Black woman" comment was originally brought up by Ubah last year during their trip to Anguilla. She explained that, in a tense moment after the incident involving Erin's sunglasses, Ubah broke the fourth wall and spoke directly to the camera, saying, "Don't you dare edit me to look like an angry Black woman."

After coming from Anguilla, Brynn claimed that she and Ubah frequently discussed the "harmful stereotype at length." She added:

"As a biracial woman, I will never know what it's like to fully walk in Ubah's shoes. I have experienced racism-from childhood to corporate America- and it broke my heart to see my friend devastated by the backlash she received online.

The Real Housewives of New York star continued:

"I always offered love and support, and when she asked me for advice, I gave it. (For the record, it was always mutual. Ubah was an incredible friend to me and always supported me through difficult experiences.)"

Later that night, off-camera in the Hamptons, Brynn shared that she and Ubah had an honest conversation about their fears and triggers, as they often did. They hugged, expressed their love for each other, and promised to support one another in any way they could.

Brynn claimed that she told her The Real Housewives of New York castmate that everything she wants for herself, she wants for her too. Ubah, in turn, expressed the same wishes for Brynn.

"I'm not sure what shifted after that touching moment, but I deeply regret and I am sorry if I overstepped. Ubah needed a friend to listen to the thoughts and fears which she expressed that night, she didn't need someone to repeat them back to her," Brynn added.

The Real Housewives of New York star hopes that "the powerful 4th wall moment that happened in Anguilla, well before the Hamptons, will be shown at this year's reunion."

She hopes this long-standing issue, which has lingered for nearly two years, will finally be addressed openly. She believes a "constructive conversation is essential to clear the air and provide context and closure for everyone involved."
