Selling Sunset is one of the most hit real estate reality TV shows in the Netflix reality TV universe. The new season 8 is set to air on September 6, 2024, which will continue the drama from the previous seasons while introducing new faces as well. Fans might remember the OG cast which included real estate agents such as Christine Quinn, Heather Rae, and Davina Potratz.
These three cast members are no longer part of the show. One of them was Davina who left The Oppenheim Group early when a new opportunity knocked on her door. In season 4, the audience got to know that Davina was leaving the agency to work for Douglas Elliman company. At the same time, Jason was also looking to hire someone as a replacement for Davina's position.
As per Tudum by Netflix's April 15, 2024 article, Davina was introduced as one of the cast members of Selling Sunset season 5. She was described as a "team player" who wanted to maintain her friendship with Christine in that season. The two, however, felt distant with one another. The description further mentioned:
"Once Christine's partner in antagonizing the other agents, Davina now tries to be a team player. She and Christine are still friends, even though they've been slowly drifting apart. Under pressure to make a sale, she returns to a difficult but prestigious client for help."
The reason behind Davina's exit from Selling Sunset
Before exiting Selling Sunset, Davina clarified that she had decided to add a new opportunity to her portfolio and it had nothing to do with the drama on the show. In an interview with People Magazine back in October 2020, Davina shared she still wanted to be a part of the cast and was on good terms with the founders Brett and Jason. She emphasized that she did not "want to leave" and that her new step was "purely a business decision." Davina continued:
"My background is in new development sales and marketing, so this is just a wonderful opportunity for me. It's just very in tune with my skills."
Despite confirming that she was leaving the show, Davina returned as a cast member in season 4 as well as season 6. During one of the episodes, she shared that she was willing to work for The Oppenheim Group once again. After her project ended, Davina told Christine Quinn she wished to return to the real estate agency.
However, the former Selling Sunset cast member disclosed that Jason "wasn't supportive" of her decision and that there were some unresolved issues linked to the $75 million listing that wasn't sold. Later on the show, Davina clarified the issue with Jason and joined The Oppenheim Group but only appeared as a guest on the show.
In another Tudum by Netflix article, the cast of Selling Sunset season 6 was introduced to the viewers. The May 19, 2023 article revealed that Davina won't be a permanent cast member but she will make guest appearances in the episodes. It further stated:
"While Davina keeps herself busy for the most part, you’ll get glimpses of her throughout the season. And what’s more, a former Miami-based cast member even makes a guest appearance."
