Selling Sunset released its highly anticipated season 8, featuring all 11 episodes, on Netflix on September 6, 2024. The drama from the past bleeds into the new season, which follows real estate brokers of the Oppenheim Group.
The feud between Chrishell Stause and Nicole Young has been a focal point for reality TV fans. On August 31, Chrishell and Chelsea Lazkani accused Done and Done Productions of "giving air time to liars" on Instagram, referencing an alleged quote that Nicole made about Emma Hernan's personal life.
In the season 7 finale, titled Commission Impossible, Bre made a case about her worth and asked for a better commission rate from Jason. This came just before the blowout bash that was organized to celebrate the new office of the O Group. As old and new colleagues met, Bre also clashed with Chelsea at the party due to the latter calling her relationship with Nick Cannon "off-putting."
As per Netflix, the press release for the Selling Sunset season 8 reads:
"With the luxury real estate market in crisis, The Oppenheim Group has never been more determined to outsell the competition and ring that bell. But to stay on top, the seasoned agents have to weather both professional and personal challenges as office gossip runs rampant, marriages hang in the balance, and new agents snap at their stilettos."
The new season features Chrishell Stause, Mary Fitzgerald, Emma Hernan, Amanza Smith, Chelsea Lazkani, Bre Tiesi, Nicole Young, and new agent Alanna Whittaker Gold. Jason and Brett Oppenheim, owners of the Oppenheim Group, will guide the brokers as they try to balance their personal lives with the meticulousness of the real estate world.
The season 8 premiere of Selling Sunset explored
Episode 1 of Selling Sunset, titled The Girls Are Back In Town, starts with the O Group brokers trying to sell a $38 million Hollywood Hills compound, described on the show as a love child between James Bond and the Playboy Mansion. Chrishell welcomes her old client Melanie and gives her a tour of the estate, which the latter dubs a "fantasy land."
After the tour, Chrishell and Jason sit down and discuss the current dynamics among the agents, specifically Bre. After the season 7 finale of Selling Sunset, Bre's future was left in limbo, and Chrishell tried to vouch for her friend in front of Jason, who didn't want to budge for a single employee.
Mary plans Amanza's birthday party and calls in workers for spray tan services. After getting tans, Amanza reveals that Emma, Bre, Chelsea, and Chrishell haven't notified her if they plan to come to her birthday party. Mary went on to explain her conflict with Chelsea that happened in the office during "Content Day." Mary revealed that she believes Chelsea stirs the pot more than others.
Chelsea gets the wind of this as Emma was working with Mary at that time. This prompted Chelsea to call Mary and tell her to keep her "f**king name out of your mouth." Mary continued that she planned to stand her ground despite what Chelsea said and speculated that there might be something else going on in her life that made her react in such a way.
The cast of Selling Sunset then meets the newest member of the O Group, Alanna. Meanwhile, Jason and Brett handle a client looking to sell a property in Manhattan Beach listed at around $30 million. Alanna, Mary, and Chelsea are chosen as brokers who would try to impress the client and his wife.
Jason met up with Bre for the first time after the party where Chelsea talked about Bre's relationship with Nick Cannon, with whom Bre had a child recently. Chelsea called their relationship "off-putting," which Bre pointed out to Jason as being hard to process. Bre ended the conversation by claiming that Chelsea would need to get out of her way or she is not willing to come back.
On the real estate front, the owners of the luxurious estate situated in Manhattan Beach chose both Mary and Chelsea to work on the property, which both the brokers didn't fancy.
