The well-known entrepreneur and Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran attributes her successful marriage to an unusual sleeping arrangement. Corcoran disclosed during her March 28 appearance on the Today show that she and her husband, Bill Higgins, have kept separate bedrooms for more than 40 years.
“I’ve had a separate bedroom with Bill for like 40 years.”
She said, highlighting how this behavior keeps their relationship "fun" and "s*xy." This arrangement resulted from their different tendencies, Corcoran noted.
“He puts piles of stuff everywhere, and I am very neat, so I couldn’t sleep well at night.”
She claimed that this choice had given her the ability to "sleep like a baby." While unconventional, Corcoran's counsel is somewhat common amongst public figures. For a variety of reasons, celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Will Smith, and Cameron Diaz have all discussed keeping their sleeping spaces apart from their relationships.
Who is Barbara Corcoran from Shark Tank?
Barbara Corcoran is widely recognized as one of Shark Tank's most successful investors. Born on March 10, 1949, she began her career in poor circumstances. Despite suffering academically and receiving straight D's in high school and college, she found her footing in the corporate world by relying on her instincts. Barbara stated in her Shark Tank bio,
"If I could set a world record, it would be that I have 150 business partners, all with thriving businesses of their own that started with nothing and I made the difference to make them all billionaires."
Corcoran's business adventure began when she borrowed $1,000 from her boyfriend and quit her waitress job to launch a modest real estate company in New York City. Over 25 years, she grew that investment into a $5 billion corporation, becoming one of the industry's most recognizable real estate brands.
Corcoran has made a name for herself on the show as an astute investor who has a talent for spotting good companies. Her book If You Don't Have Big Breasts, Put Ribbons on Your Pigtails, which provides an honest and inspirational look at her path to achievement, is one of her many works.
Her experience on the show is revealed in her other works, such as Shark Tales. She stated in her show's bio,
"Don't you dare underestimate the power of your own instinct."
