During The Mole season 2 episode 2, Ari introduced contestants to an exemption quiz. Whoever won it would be exempt from the next elimination. However, as usual, there was a twist.
While everyone wanted an exemption, not all participants were willing to lose the pot prize. Two players, Hannah and Tony, were willing to let the prize pot reach zero because nobody won anything.
Later, in the third episode, when only they were the two remaining participants, Tony left the task and gave an exemption to Hannah. He also mentioned that he had a crush on her.
Seeing this behavior from Tony, Neesh shared in the confessional:
"Hannah, she seems really sweet and innocent. But, like, she’s not as ditzy as she lets on. She played Tony like a fiddle."
The Mole season 2: Exemption task and more details explored
It all started during The Mole season 2 episode 2, when Ari introduced an exemption task to participants.
Ari explained:
"This is an exemption. If you have it, you won’t face tonight’s quiz, which was going to be an elimination quiz. When I say go, your prize pot will begin to drain. The exemption will go to the last player sitting in this room. So fight for it, or remove yourself and let the others battle it out."
Everyone was sitting in the room, taking part in the exemption task. There were many discussions about what should be done to benefit everyone, and also many disagreements.
Seeing the pot money draining fast, Melissa was the first to opt out of the task.
When everyone was presenting their ideas, Tony shared:
"I’m gonna propose an ultimatum. I have nothing crazy to say. I’m just saying that I’m willing to see it go to zero."
Everyone was shocked to hear this from Tony. Deanna was the next one to opt-out. Q and Hannah had a heated-up argument when she said she was there to win the game. Q pointed out that draining money would mean there would be no money left for the winner.
Soon, Neesh and Q opted out, followed by Andy and Michael. The last four contestants in the exemption task were: Muna, Ryan, Hannah, and Tony. Since Ryan considered herself a team player, she also left, and Muna joined her.
The second episode ended with Tony and Hannah still in the exemption task.
The Mole season 2 episode 3: Hannah and Tony
At last, Hannah and Tony were the last two contestants still in the game, and money was rapidly draining from the prize pot.
Hannah shared in the confessional:
"We’re having fun. We’re flirting. And I’m thinking, Okay, well, all I have to do is bat my eyelashes to get the exemption from him. I don’t have Tony eating out of the palm of my hand yet, but I definitely will."
She also added:
"He’s looking at me, I flip my hair back, and I tilt my head, and I smile. I know that he will give it (exemption) to me. I get everything I want when I flirt. I’ve never had a guy say no to me."
Hannah was right, because soon Tony gave up and opted out of the exemption task. Everyone had their opinions about this intense situation.
Neesh shared in the confessional:
"I think we’re just shocked. The money’s gone... And who knows? He (Tony) might be going home tonight because of that poor choice. I’ve got my eye on her now."
Andy described the situation as the most expensive exemption in Mole’s history.
