Love is Blind Mexico aired its first four episodes on August 1, 2024. During these episodes of the Mexican installment of the social experiment, the cast members got to know one another better and formed bonds without meeting each other in person.
As part of the show's format, the participants only saw one another after getting engaged, as the Netflix show aims to find out whether love truly was blind. One of the couples, Gerardo and Fernanda, met for the first time in episode 2 after the male cast member popped the question in episode 1.
Upon seeing each other for the first time, the Love is Blind Mexico stars expressed excitement over meeting one another. Gerardo said in a confessional:
"I never could've imagined that Fernanda would be this stunning. She's a diamond."
While speaking about the first time the engaged couple hugged one another, he said:
"That hug felt perfect. I didn't want to let go."
Gerardo's proposal to Fernanda in Love is Blind Mexico explored
Fernanda and Gerardo were among the first couples to get engaged in Love is Blind Mexico. Despite having a turbulent journey (as Gerardo was interested in more than one person), he asked Fernanda to marry him at the end of episode 1.
Ahead of their last meeting in the pods, Gerardo said that Fernanda made him feel peaceful, which was what he was looking for in a partner. He sent flowers to the Netflix star and told her he loved her. Fernanda said she loved him as well.
Gerardo told Fernanda he had written her a song and explained in a confessional that he had written it the day before. The cast member said it was about how combining lives with someone could be scary but that taking a leap of faith was important. He told her he wrote it for her before he popped the question.
"I'm about to ask you an important question. My right knee is on the floor. I can't believe I'm saying this to the wall. But Fernanda Riva Palacio, will you marry me?"
Using the Love is Blind Mexico star's full name, Gerardo Zapiain, she said yes. Fernanda expressed her joy in a confessional and said she didn't think it would happen to her. Gerardo asked her how she felt about being his wife, and she said, "Awesome."
"To be honest, I deserve it. I deserve this love. I wanted this so much," Fernanda said in a confessional.
Gerardo also told the cameras how he felt and said it was how "true love" felt. The two made their way to one another during the segment, which ended on a cliffhanger. Before that, Fernanda said she was "anxious and nervous" and didn't know what to expect. She added that she didn't think she could fall in love with someone like this.
Meanwhile, Gerardo also expressed feeling nervous. He said he was "scared and worried" and that his hands were sweaty. He stated that his heart was beating fast. Fernanda further wondered what the Love is Blind Mexico star would be like.
"I have this fear that the doors will open, and I'm not attracted to her or she doesn't like me," Gerardo said.
However, when the doors opened in episode 2, the two were beyond happy. The two rushed to hug each other, and Fernanda said that Gerardo was "so handsome." The male cast member also complimented her and said she was "so beautiful."
"You're definitely the one for me," Fernanda said.
The two got engaged and made their way to the honeymoon phase, which was featured in episode 4.
