Elena Dubaich, the stew on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 found herself in trouble in the second episode of the installment. Even though Elena has experience under her belt, she knows more about superyachts than yachts with a smaller crew.

Her inexperience with smaller yachts became apparent when she tried waking up their only chef, Jono, in the middle of the night because the guests demanded some snacks. She also got into hot water for staying up till 6:30 am with the guests. In a confessional on Below Deck Mediterranean, Aesha Scott, her boss and chief stew of the ship, said:

"A stew should never be to bed more than an hour after the guests. If she’s with them the whole time, she’s getting nothing done."

What did Elena do to get reprimanded by Aesha Scott on Below Deck Mediterranean season 2 episode 2?

Elena and Gael, the deckhand, were the last two members of the crew who were awake and serving the guests on episode 2 of Below Deck Mediterranean. While they gave them drinks, they were clueless about what to serve them when they asked for midnight snacks.

As the guests mentioned midnight snacks in their preference sheet, Elena assumed the chef, Jono, was aware of the same. Hence, she tried to wake him up, not once, but twice, so he could fulfill the guest's request. He, however, said that he couldn't wake up because he had just finished an 18-hour shift and had to be up at 6 am for breakfast the next day.

Elena then took it upon herself to make them some grilled cheese sandwiches with help from Gael, the deckhand. The guests drank and ate and were happy with the food. However, Elena was up all night serving them drinks and went to sleep at 6:30 am, when it was time for the rest of the crew to wake up.

When Aesha came across Jono, he told her he was woken up in the middle of the night by Elena. Aesha told him the guests had "midnight snacks" in the preference sheet, and asked him to prepare some snacks beforehand and keep them in the fridge for Elena to heat up and serve.

While she wasn't mad at Elena for waking the chef up, she didn't like that she was awake till 6:30 am and said she wasn't getting any work done if she was up with the guests. Captain Sandy on the other hand reprimanded Elena for waking the chef up and said:

"Never wake the chef. Maybe on big boats, cause they have more than one chef."

She also instructed Jono to prepare some paninis and put them in the freezer so someone could heat them in the panini maker.

Elena's reaction in episode 2 of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9

Elena was upset about not getting enough sympathy from the captain or the chief stew and said:

"What about the fact that I was up for 25 hours? It was all about waking up the chef!"

She was also angry at the chef for changing the Captain's perception of her, and added:

"It’s not Captain Sandy who’s making me upset. It’s Jono who’s making me upset."
