Netflix released all 11 episodes of Selling Sunset season 8 on the platform on Friday, September 6, 2024. While the show follows the lives of the real estate agents of The Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles, it also sees a lot of drama brewing among the agents.
Selling Sunset season 8 cast members include Mary Fitzgerald, Chrishell Stause, Emma Hernan, Nicole Young, Amanza Smith, Chelsea Lazkani, and Bre Teisi. A new agent, Alanna Gold, has also joined the brokerage, and she was involved in some drama in the recently released episodes.
Fans of the show are aware of the conflicts that arise between the brokers due to listings, their clients, and even their personal lives. While Chrishell Stause and Nicole Young have been involved in a feud since season 6, Alanna seemingly raised eyebrows during a listing. She tried to get in on a listing that veterans Mary and Chelsea were trying to get.
In the first episode, Jason Oppenheim told the team that he had an important client coming in who wanted to list his $30 million property. Mary and Chelsea expressed their interest in the property since the client was based in Manhattan Beach, where both of them had lived at different points in their lives. However, things became tense when Alanna, the newcomer, also pitched for the listing.
Alanna expressed confidence in her abilities as she revealed that she had previously worked on multiple $20 million listings with experienced agents before joining the Oppenheim Group. However, Emma wasn't too pleased with her new Selling Sunset co-star pitching her name for the listing.
Emma said that Alanna was trying to pull above her weight when going against industry veterans like Mary and Chelsea. She called Alanna a "bit of a lightweight" who would be knocked out if she jumped "into the ring with those two [Mary and Chelsea]."
"Chelsea and Mary are definitely some heavyweights in the real estate business. Alanna is a little bit of a lightweight. She's gotta earn her keep. Don't jump into the ring with those two. They'll knock you out," stated Emma.
It is worth noting that before the new season was aired, the feud between Chrishell Stause and Nicole Young made its way back to the news. Chrishell and Chelsea took to Instagram on August 31, 2024, to call out the production company behind the show, Done and Done Productions. They accused the company of "giving air time to liars," which was about an alleged quote that Nicole made about Emma.
Selling Sunset season 8 newbie Alanna pitches to get a listing that Mary and Chelsea had an eye on
In the first episode of Selling Sunset season 8, Alanna Gold joked about being a "nerd" in high school. She wondered if the other women from The Oppenheim Group would have been friends with her in the past.
She also said that while she was confident in her abilities, she often felt like an underdog compared to her co-workers, who she stated were a "different breed." However, she still volunteered and pitched to go see the listing.
Later, Chelsea Lazkani put Alanna and Mary on the spot after asking them about the area's topographical details. When they weren't able to answer her questions, Chelsea called herself "the Queen of Manhattan Beach," claiming that she should get the listing.
Later, the property's owner, Jeff, visited the Oppenheim Group office, and the cast of Selling Sunset pulled out all the stops to impress him. The property was located on 1st Street and had an area of 10,000 square feet, getting the broker a deal of nearly $900,000. Jason and Brett informed the client about the brokerage's capabilities, assuring him that the listing was in the right hands.
After hearing that the brokerage would cover full concierge services, including staging, artwork, cleaning, and photography, Jeff was convinced about the brokerage. He also decided to meet the three brokers vying to get the listing, Mary Fitzgerald, Chelsea, and Alanna, adding that they would need to convince his wife as well.
Mary was delighted with this, since she claimed that she spoke "wifey." Meanwhile, Chelsea told him that her husband was also named Jeff, which he seemed to like.
The three Selling Sunset brokers met the couple on their property and impressed them with their experience. However, they seemingly preferred Mary due to her expertise in the field. Chelsea, who eavesdropped on the conversation, pitched a client to Jeff and his wife, leaving them intrigued.
Later, Jason called Mary and Chelsea to inform them that the clients had chosen to work with them over Alanna due to their experience and expertise. However, they both claimed that the situation wouldn't be ideal, as they liked working alone on the listings assigned to them.
