"She's made the right decision"— Marissa's mother comes to terms with her relationship on Love Is Blind

Love Is Blind returned to Netflix with season 7 and released episodes 10-11 on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in which various singles enter the show in hopes of finding love. The fans were introduced to the diverse cast of the latest season who have backgrounds ranging from serving in the military to journalism. The show also featured a pair of siblings who entered the pods for the first time in its history.

The Love Is Blind cast will be able to access their phones or social media so that they can focus on making an emotional connection with the other person. The show is hosted by the real-life couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey which has three couples left who want to go to the altar.

In episode 11, while Nick joined the hopeful men as they tried out their wedding suits, Vanessa surprised the ladies during their wedding gown trials. the hopefuls who wished to go to the altar, Marissa was accompanied by her mother.

When prompted by the host about her thoughts on their wedding, Marissa's mother didn't hold back and stated that she did not think Ramses was Marissa's type at first. She later conceded that her daughter would do things according to her own will, and she's okay with that.

Having made a threat against Ramses to "cut his b*lls off" if he mistreats Marissa, her mother had also come to terms with their upcoming marriage.

"I'm confident she's made the right decision. I mean, he seems okay," stated Marissa's mother.

In Love Is Blind season 7 episode 9, Ramses met Marissa's mother and siblings. As Marissa explained that her siblings had different fathers than hers, her mother couldn't help but blurt out that she was not a fan of Ramses' look. She further stated that his hairstyle reminded her of the 1980s.

While enjoying the meal, Ramses revealed that he did not possess a college degree, which raised concerns for Marissa's mother. She expressed that since Marissa had her law degree, she should be with someone of the same caliber and had the potential to earn and keep her daughter happy.

“I don’t think you’re a bum. She would not go for a f***ing bum. But I want to make sure you’re not relying on her law degree and her money,” stated Vanessa.

Marissa's mother was not happy to hear about Ramses' previous wedding on Love Is Blind. While Ramses tried to defend his decision and explain what went wrong in his marriage, Marissa's mother sarcastically replied that she didn't need anyone to explain how a marriage worked.

After the episode aired, Marissa's mother's words were deemed harsh and were criticized by various fans online. On her official TikTok account (@official_marissag), Marissa defended her mother from the online criticism. Wanting some leniency on the matter, she conceded that her mother was a human being after all and just wanted the best for her.

She also noted that her mother's concerns stemmed from her own previous failed relationships and she did not want her daughter to go through the same. Concluding the video, Marissa agreed that her mother should seek professional help.

"My mom, just like you all are not one-dimensional. We all are complex and we all have our own issues, our own traumas. Like, my mom needs to go to therapy. It's like a lot of other people need to go to therapy," stated Marissa.
