The Bachelorette season 21 made it to episode 6 on August 12, where the leading star Jenn picked the men she wanted to take to the hometowns part of the show. In that particular segment, Jenn will meet the families of each of her prospects to further narrow down her search for a life partner.

Episode 6 saw Jeremy going on a one-on-one date with Jenn and securing a rose at the end. Even though Jenn and Jeremy hadn't gotten much time together before, this date made Jenn realize the potential that Jeremy had. She gave him a rose and sent Sam, Spencer, and Grant home.

Fans of the show took to X to express their thoughts on her decision. Many of them were in disbelief because they hadn't seen the two interact much before. They thought her connections with Spencer and Grant were deeper than what she had with Jeremy, so the move felt a little abrupt.

One viewer commented:

"Is anyone else SHOCKED that The Bachelorette, Jenn kept Spencer and Jeremy over Dylan?!?! I thought her and Dylan were in it for at least home towns."
"JEREMY GOT A HOMETOWN!?!? WHERE DID THIS MAN EVEN COME FROM???" another fan said.
"This Jeremy guy coming outta nowhere and charming me," one X user commented.
"I can’t believe Jeremy just secured a Hometown Rose out of nowhere," another netizen wrote.

Many of The Bachelorette fans pointed out her connection with Grant and were shocked to see her preferring Jeremy over him:

"Jeremy over Grant!?!? REALLY JEN!?!?" one fan said.
"The fact that Jeremy is going to hometowns and not Grant is crazy I’m confused," said another fan.
"Remembering Jeremy is here without any screen time with Jenn," another comment read.

Why did Jenn choose Jeremy to proceed to the hometowns on episode 6 of The Bachelorette season 21?

Out of the seven remaining men in episode 6 of The Bachelorette season 21, Jenn chose to go on one-on-one dates with Marcus and Jeremy. On her date with Marcus, he took the rose after opening up about issues he was facing with his family.

With Jeremy though, Jenn had a fun date where they got to know each other more. As they walked around Pike Place Market, they did a palm reading and caught a fish. Jenn's objective was to know if she had a future with Jeremy, and after her date, she thought she did.

This was because further on their date, Jenn and Jeremy went to an art exhibit, where they talked about deeper topics such as family, kids, and religion, among others. Most of their views matched, which ensured Jenn that she indeed could have a future with him.

Following their date, Jeremy received a rose. This left five men without roses in The Bachelorette villa. Jenn kept Devin and Jonathan and let go of Grant, Spencer, and Sam. This shocked the show fans who thought Grant was closer to her than Jeremy.

It was because Grant had received two date roses already, one of which was given to him in the previous episode (5), so his chances of going home the very next episode looked rather thin.
