Trista Sutter shared her experience with strict NDAs during her time on Special Forces: World's Toughest Test on the January 21 episode of Jennie Garth’s I Choose Me podcast. She spoke about the challenges of keeping her involvement in the military training show a secret.
Reflecting on the agreement, Trista explained,
“You just sign your life away, and you also sign that you have to keep everything in secret.”
Her time on the show happened while there was public speculation about her marriage to Ryan Sutter. At the time, Ryan posted on Instagram, sharing his thoughts about her taking time away for self-reflection.
This led to rumors about issues in their marriage. Trista later clarified that their relationship was strong and said the time apart was important for personal growth.
Special Forces: World's Toughest Test star Trista’s take on NDAs
Trista Sutter’s experience with non-disclosure agreements dates back to her early days in reality TV. Speaking on Jennie Garth’s I Choose Me podcast, she reflected on signing her first contract for The Bachelor, which had strict confidentiality.
“I remember signing the contract for The Bachelor, and they were like, ‘Okay, well, if you tell anybody, then we’re gonna sue you for $5 million,’” she recalled.
During her time filming Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, these NDAs prevented Trista from discussing her involvement, even as public speculation about her personal life grew. She noted that the agreements enforce silence, and she discussed about how the fear of legal consequences often stops people from speaking out. She said,
"But it's like the fear of god or the fear of lawyers are put into you, and you're like, 'Okay.'"
This period also overlapped with Ryan Sutter’s social media posts about missing her, which added to public curiosity about her absence. In the caption, Ryan wrote,
"So many times I’ve called without much to say, not realizing how lucky I was or how much I’d miss the opportunity if it were gone."
Trista shared that she felt relieved when the show’s casting was officially announced, as it gave her the opportunity to address the rumors and explain her reasons for participating in the show Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.
