Sister Wives season 19, episode 18, titled Money is the Root of All Evil, premiered on TLC on January 19, 2025. The episode started with a conversation between Meri and her friend Jen as they discussed Meri's share in the Coyote Pass property.

As she reflected on the past, Meri said that she hadn't used the family fund to support her child Leon’s education or car expenses. She noted that she had covered all the costs on her own. However, her ex-husband, Kody, dismissed Meri’s concerns and stated that he didn't care about her complaints.

Later in the episode, Kody hired a realtor to list the Coyote Pass property without informing Meri and Janelle.

What happened in Sister Wives season 19 episode 18?

As episode 18 of Sister Wives season 19 started, Meri sat down with her close friend, Jen, to discuss her share of the Coyote Pass property.

The Sister Wives star confided in Jen that, despite contributing equally to the Coyote Pass property, she was only being allocated two acres. Meri explained that Kody had justified this by saying she didn’t need a larger share since she only had one child to support.

“I don’t know if they don’t remember, like, when our funds were all together and those family funds that I helped with went to the kids’ college, went to property. It went to everything. We had a family fund,” Meri explained.

Meri also revealed that while she contributed to the family fund, most of the money was used to cover other children’s college and car expenses. She noted that her own child, Leon, didn't benefit from it. Meri claimed that she had to take care of Leon's expenses by herself, without touching the family stash.

In her confessional, Meri expressed frustration, noting that despite being with Kody the longest, she never received an equal share of the family funds. She said that she "put a lot into the marriage emotionally, financially, and personally," but noted that she didn't get anything out of it, including any alimony.

“And I’m not looking for that. So I think it’s fair [I get] the property investment. I think it’s fair that I walk away with that at least,” Meri added in her confessional.

Meri also discussed with Jen that she was ready to date and already found a good companion for herself.

Kody refuses to communicate and hires a realtor

Despite Meri’s repeated requests for an equal share of the property, her ex-husband, Kody Brown remained unconvinced that she needed it. In his confessional, he stated that Meri could complain all she wanted about her share but that he wouldn’t discuss the matter with his ex-wife unless he chose to.

He said that they had 18 children to take care of, stating that the issue was "just water under the bridge." The Sister Wives cast member reiterated that Meri didn’t have more children to support, which, in his view, justified why she didn’t need an equal share of the Coyote Pass property.

Janelle and Meri wanted to know when Kody was going to buy them off from the property. However, Kody wasn't willing to answer any questions claiming that he was broke to pay them off.

Later in the episode, the Sister Wives star hired a realtor to list their Coyote Pass property. However, he didn't inform Janelle and Meri that he was planning on selling the place. Janelle and Meri realized that they couldn't trust or rely on Kody for their share so they decided to hire their separate lawyers to tackle the problem.
