"So nasty"— Love is Blind Mexico fans divided by Rene's family's treatment of Irais

Love is Blind Mexico aired episodes 5—8 on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The episodes saw the remaining couples return to Mexico City as they came closer to the big day. As part of the step in the Netflix social experiment, they lived together and also met each others' families.

Irais and Rene, who briefly parted ways after their engagement, reunited and visited Rene's family home. Rene's mother told the cameras she didn't like insincere people, while his sister, Priscila said she didn't want her brother to be with someone who wanted to change him.

The family had trouble grasping the show's concept and as fans described it, were "so nasty" towards Irais. Chiming on Rene's family's behavior towards Irais, viewers felt shocked by how they received her. One person wrote on X:

Other Love is Blind Mexico fans felt that Rene's family asked the female cast member "essential" questions:

Rene's family grills Irais in Love is Blind Mexico episode 7

In Love is Blind Mexico season 1 episode 7, titled, Family or Love?, Rene introduced Irais to his family. However, things didn't go over as smoothly as the couple would have liked as Rene's family had several questions about their relationship.

"I don't like people who think they're entitled, I like genuine people," Rene's mother told the cameras.

While in conversation with his family, Rene stated that only his mother knew about the social experiment beforehand. The cast member's father asked whether it was a reality show and Rene explained the show's concept to them.

Rene's mother asked Irais what she liked about her son and the female participant said his confidence appealed to her. She added that it made her feel "calm." Elaborating on the exchange, Irais told the cameras there was "an element of surprise and uncertainty" from the family. However, she stated it was "understandable."

Rene's sisters asked Irais about her other connections while on Love is Blind Mexico and she revealed that by the end, she had three. However, she added that it was "always Rene."

The family asked the couple why they fought and were unhappy that Irais had a problem with Rene having a drink every once in a while. The female cast member explained that she only had a problem with people who had issues with alcohol.

"She needs to take that into account, because I for one, don't want my brother to change the way he is just because she doesn't like it," Rene's sister Priscila told the cameras.

The Love is Blind Mexico couple faced several other burning questions as the family believed Rene could have found love "anywhere." They wondered if the couple was moving too fast. Cinthya, Rene's other sister stated that while her brother may feel in love, he and Irais should have taken "a little more time."
