Southern Charm alum Olivia Flowers announces engagement to Alex Williams

Southern Charm alum Olivia Flowers got engaged to her long-time boyfriend Alex Williams on September 25 in New York City. In an interview with People on October 4, Williams revealed that he popped the question in front of Flowers' "parents and many of her close friends" in the Meadow Terrace Suite at JW Marriott Essex House.

While he used a temporary ring for the proposal, Williams shared that Flowers' "classic, simple and elegant" style custom 4-carat diamond ring which features an 18k yellow gold band would be delivered before their engagement party.

Before Flowers met Williams in 2023, she was a part of Southern Charm season 8 and was in a relationship with costar Austen Kroll.

The relationship ended in 2022 and the pair started clashing on season 9 after Flowers found out Kroll got close to their mutual friend Taylor Ann Green and lied about it.

Alex Williams revealed in an interview with People, that he had been planning the proposal for weeks. When Olivia Flowers flew to attend New York Fashion Week, he secretly went to her parents' house to ask for their permission to marry their daughter.

Williams shared that Flowers is very close to her friends and family and wanted to involve them as it would mean a lot to her and he "wanted her to feel all the love and the excitement in the world from the surprise of her loved ones." He said:

"Olivia has such an incredible group of friends, from elementary school through to college, and she's very close with her parents, so I knew involving them somehow would mean a lot to her.'

The Southern Charm alum was scheduled to speak for the Project Lyme Gala Olivia in New York, and Williams said that it was Flowers' mother Robin's idea to plan the proposal around the period.

He added that The JW Marriott Essex House staff and their friends and family were all so accommodating and "moved well as the plan evolved."

Williams said that Flowers had no idea about the proposal and he lured her to the location, telling her that they had to visit the place for her photoshoot. The planning "got a little hectic", however, and Flowers was busy with her Project Lyme speech so she wasn't able to catch on to his planning.

When they arrived at the place Flowers shared that she was focused on the brand shoot. They were in the middle of the shoot when Williams got on his knees and popped the question. While proposing, he said:

"'Olivia Barbara Ellen Flowers. You're the girl of my dreams. Became the love of my life. And I’d like to ask will you marry me?'"

The Southern Charm alum celebrated her one-year anniversary with Williams with an Instagram post on May 13. In the caption of the post, Flowers shared the story of how he met her future husband.

Flowers wrote in the caption that she met Williams at the wedding. She was late to the ceremony and escorted by a "handsome usher" to her seat.

A few moments later, the same usher then asked her father if he could dance with her. The "handsome usher" she was referring to was Williams and they got into a relationship. She wrote in the caption:

"After arriving late to a wedding (& tripping up the church stairs) I was met by a handsome usher to take me to my seat. Later, that same usher asked my date (my dad) if he could dance with me…A year later and we’re still dancing 🪩(and tripping up stairs). Cheers to stage 5 clinging."
