Recap of Southern Hospitality season 3 episode 3
This week’s Southern Hospitality episode began with the aftermath of Emmy’s meltdown from last week. Emmy had erupted when Siobhan accused her of misusing store credit to purchase dresses, marking them up, and pocketing the difference.
While Emmy initially insisted things were fine between her and Will, Michols revealed otherwise during a conversation. Michols shared that Will had made negative comments about Emmy, stating that he felt miserable in their relationship and disapproved of her physical appearance since she stopped drinking.
Meanwhile, Madison and Joe discussed their future, which was prompted by questions from her parents. Madison expressed hesitation about marriage due to her sobriety and lack of a long-term plan but admitted she would say yes to Joe’s proposal to avoid embarrassing him.
However, Joe was fully committed to their relationship and shared a dream of living at the beach, though Madison’s parents suggested he might need to start building her a sandcastle.
As Emmy attempted to unpack her workplace meltdown, she admitted to Michols that she could have handled the situation better. Michols informed her that both Lea and Leva were aware of the incident, prompting Leva to suggest that Emmy might need some time off.
Despite this, Emmy apologized for her behavior and promised not to repeat it. However, she later demanded an apology from Siobhan, further complicating matters. Michols reminded Emmy that Will had fueled much of the tension, recounting how Will had made disparaging remarks about her in front of others, including calling her “boring” for not drinking anymore.
The group’s trip to Lake Wylie provided a brief escape from the tensions at Republic. The celebration of Lake’s birthday revealed more about her background, including her artistic endeavors and her family’s success in various industries.
Lake, who identifies as s*xually fluid, shared that she is a “lover girl” who connects with people regardless of gender identity. Her family home at Lake Wylie held special significance, even inspiring her name.
Despite the serene setting, tensions lingered within the group. Emmy continued to deny that her issues with Will were affecting her behavior at work, though Brad and TJ remained skeptical. Brad highlighted that clients had approached him to complain about Will’s comments regarding Emmy.
Later in Southern Hospitality, Will attempted to downplay his actions when confronted by Brad and TJ, admitting that he had vented about Emmy but justifying it as a normal reaction to stress. Will claimed this process made him more resolute in his feelings for Emmy, though TJ dismissed this as a weak excuse.
Back at Republic, Emmy sought to repair her professional relationships. She reconciled with Siobhan, and the two agreed to move forward. However, Emmy’s emotions remained fragile, and Brad suspected that her ongoing issues with Will were taking a toll on her. The group dynamic was further strained when Michols hesitated to room with Emmy during the trip, leaving her visibly upset.
The Southern Hospitality episode also revisited the tension between TJ and Joe. The former admitted to Maddi that their issues stemmed from a deeply personal moment years ago when Joe had shared a bed with him and cuddled in a way that TJ interpreted as intimate.
TJ revealed that this moment led him to develop feelings for Joe, which he shared last summer. He felt that Joe had always been aware of his feelings and used them to maintain an advantage in their friendship. The episode ended on a dramatic note, with the group preparing for what promises to be an intense confrontation between TJ and Joe.
Southern Hospitality airs on Thursdays on Bravo.
